A friend lives out in the country and her home in being invaded by electrical cord eating mice - in spite help from her cat. My friend won't put out anything to kill the mice, so needs to protect the wires. What can be used? Will a metal pipe/tube ruin any of the electrical properties of the cords. If the cords are put in a box, how much is heat build up (ie fire) a concern?

We need ideas! She lives in the bottom of a valley with no TV, radio or cell phone reception. The satellite Internet is her only link with outside world!

Thanks!

VC

PVC piping.... it's basically piping for plumbing but you can use it to protect your wires... just go to any hardwarestore and look in the plumbing section... the stuff is pretty hard and most are made from plastic, so the mice will definetely have a a hard time trying to chew through it and it'll leave a bad taste in there mouths.... metal is way too heavy and pricey....

You can cover the wires with tubing and put the power strip in a container but I would think that the solution is to get rid of the mouse problem. Besides being destructive, it probably isn't healthy to allow mice to over run the house. They walk, chew, and poop on everything. There diseases caused by mice. I would address the root cause.
