Every winter they start sheding a little bit of leaves before winter it is there process.

Could be either over- or under-watering (they have exactly the same symptoms initially). Could also be a pest problem - make sure the stalks are healthy and solid, and not going mushy on you. Check with your local Master Gardener program to get more specific answers - be sure to take a sample.

If your weather is turning cold, that could be it. It could also be over-watering. They usually need once per week watering.
