My daughter is 16 and i think she has had sex with her boyfriend. They have been dating as they call it for about 7 months now. He is 15 and she is 16... they dont go out on dates. She will go to his house since she drives ( one day a week) I allowed her to go to his football games and bring him to where his parents and we were when it was over. that is the only time they have actually been alone. I don't know how to address this or bring it up. I was cleaning house and was in her room and there was paper on the floor and when i picked it up i read what was on it to see if it was any good or if it was trash. On that it went into a round about way of talking about them being stronger and closer. I know that is what she was talking about. ( or i feel that was what they were talking about.)
i just don't know the right thing to do to bring up the conversation. We have had this talk before , but now it is diff.
She is a very shy person on topics like these. any suggestions ?

If she is not comfortable talking to you I would take her to see a GYN (young doctor) and don't go in the room with her because she will keep things from the doctor if she is not comfortable with talking to you. Speak with the doctor first (maybe on the phone is better) before she sees the doctor and ask her to in force condom use and put her on birth control as a just in case. Remember pills does not keep away diseases. I don't think she would appreciate you reading her notes I understand you needed to see if it was worth keeping but next time just put it on her bed or desk don't become the snooping mom she will pull back. Try to talk to her let her know what you want to talk about ask her if she rather see a doctor if so be okay with it and take her. If she has not had sex she probably is thinking about it better to be safe than sorry. I use to work in an OB/GYN office and it is very normal for a 16 year old to get a pap usually best between 16-18. I have seen a number of 13-16 year old come in pregnant don't let your daughter be one of them.

Your daughter actually sounds pretty sensible so I wouldn't automoatically jump to the conclusion that shes suddenly going to come to you and tell you shes pregnant as the first poster said.

I'd talk to her in as non judgemental way as possible. Something like.... I know you and X have been together for a while now, and I was your age once you know and I know what its like. I just want you to know that you can talk to me if you need me, even if its something your maybe embarressed about like sex. You can make your own decisions but I just want to know that your safe.

You have no evidence of anything
When I was that age I wrote down my thoughts, to help me see clearer..
I would sometimes write imaginings also..

Doesn't sound like they have time to have sex....

I think you are being to protective, and probably a little to restrictive as well
If she is sixteen she should be cleaning her own room, and you shouldn't be in there snooping...

Just sit her down and ask her if she's sexually active. Don't accuse, don't yell, don't threaten, and let her know that whatever her answer you're just asking because you want to make sure she's safe and if she is sexually active there are measures that need to be taken (birth control) and discuss condom usage (stds).

Don't put this off...it's too important!

just start the conversation and earlier is better as she might not tell you she is having sex until it is WAY TOO LATE... she could end up pregnant
