If you have a big back yard sting up lights maybe do a Mexican theme with TEX MEX Food chips dips and Salsas
Get some Tiki poles ..I like the ones with the fuel can already inside set some of those up ...they look great and burn all night.Home Depot has them in the garden section. If older kids are coming that drink make sure you tell them it's a BYOB party...The most important is music and dancing hire a mobile D.J. or get a friend who has the capabilities to play the music..tell your neighbors in advance that it is your sixteen
birthday so they don't call the police. Put unique things in the Pinata and tell them there is a grand prize and instead of candy..that for kids fill it with glow lights and those rubber wrist bands in multi colors and the grand prize a pre paid Visa for like Fifty Bucks or Twenty...

You should have like a toga party! Where everyone dresses in a hawaiian toga party! Those are the best! Have everyone come dressed in either a toga, or a grass skirt and cocoanuts. Set up tiki torches, serve trashcan punch and pina colodas, handout lays, make a hawaiian music mix cd and play it.

Huge party!! How long till your b-day and how much money do you plan on spending. Start there and then go plan something. Check sites online and ask some of your friends for ideas!!

What about a hollywood inspired theme?
Have everyone dress up like their favorite artor/actress and have a "red carpet" that they walk up to get to the location or just your house.
Just an idea! Goodluck.

The DJ is the main man here...of course after you. Thenthe dress must be perfect. The rest will be up to your parents since it's their budget your dealing with. Happy sweet sixteen.

I suggest hire a boat, band and caterers and go on a criuse. you wont get any gate crashers and it will be very private. make as much noise as you like, stay up and dance all night....
