I think your doctor might be setting a timetable for you that is too arbitrary. Not being dilated at 37 weeks is nothing to be concerned about, and it's certainly not abnormal. And getting an ultrasound to insure the baby's head is down is also not necessary and is going to cost you (and your insurance company) extra money.
Many women dilate weeks before labor. Others dilate in the hours right before labor, so there's nothing abnormal about your cervix right now.
Personally, I would decline the uneccessary ultrasound and just inform the doctor that you are not worried at all. You can read any reputable pregnancy book and see that a great number of women do not dilate at all until their 40th week or later.

I haven't heard that it isn't normal to not dialate. Everyone is different. With my first I was dialated for weeks with nothing happening. Then it happend. I was two weeks late..
My second I was induced, even though I was a fingertop dialated, he was born quick.
Third, I went into a reg. dr appt, nothing happening. Not dialated at all. i was scheduled to be induced on that friday{after having two they don't make you wait the two weeks before induction where I live, and my sister was coming to vist and I wanted her there so we chose to induce.} However. I went into labor in the middle of the night, and when I got to the hospital I was almost 3.
It happens different for everyone.
I think that ultrasounds are done at 37 weeks.. It sounds like if they are making sure baby is head down, maybe they are thinking baby flipped.. or something. I don't know.
ASK. YOU are the patient. They technically work for you. ASK.

walk, walk, walk! I don't know if that is normal, or not. I don't think I started to dialate until 39 weeks, and I wasn't sent for an ultrasound. As long as the heartbeat was normal though, I would not worry! Maybe you are just lucky and your doc wants you to have your baby on time. My doc didn't! I had my son 11 days late. Good luck!

Many docs do late ultrasounds to verify position, fluid, and status of the placenta. But doing it because you aren't dilated at 37 weeks is usually not the reason for doing it.
No dilation at 37 weeks means absolutely nothing. You could still go into labor at any time. If they check you at 40+ weeks and if your cervix is still firm, high and posterior and not thinned or effaced at all, then they might start talking about when to induce labor.
Good luck, everything is fine.

with my first two i did not dilate until about ten minutes before pushing the baby out.
i have never heard of a doctor being worried that there is no dilating at 37 weeks. i would agree to the ultrasound to make sure everything is fine, but you may not dilate until your due date. and in some cases up to 2 weeks after.

i'm able to basically think of he could do this if he thinks you're in danger in some way. normally an amnio is achieved to envision for lung adulthood that's basically a undertaking if he's making plans to set off you early. The ultrasound is each now and then finished to envision the toddler's length, exceptionally faulty by capability of how, and to substantiate place. I had a classic low hazard being pregnant and had neither finished.

Your doctor sounds like a moron.
A term pregnancy can go as long as 42 weeks. It is not unusual to have no dialation for many more weeks. You need a second opinion.

37 weeks means you have at the least 3weeks before you should expect to deliver. Most OBs will let you go to 42weeks, so don't worry to much. Have them check for lung development if you don't have the build to push out a big baby. As they once said before all the high tech mumbo jumbo- The apple will drop when its ripe. ;) Hang in there I know its a long road. I'm at 29weeks myself and feeling ready to quit.
