mperry14, inge is only 30 and still a great defender
it was a great trade for the tigers. they needed more of a defensive ss if you ask me, because they have enough offense in the other positions, pending whether pudge can bat like his normal self, not last years pudge... but moving on
jurjjens was to young to really be judged on how he can do in the majors. and the minor leaguer stole a ton of bases, i think thats the big thing the tigers will miss out of him.
but a great deal for the tigers.
and who cares if we got rid of a young pitcher, look at our young pitchers now:
bonderman, verlander, miller, zumaya, rodney...were set..

It makes perfect sense, you get an All-Star SS for a prospect, Guillen is moving to 1B this year so they needed a SS so why not get the best one they could, plus Leyland does feel comfortable with him in the fold, Managers routinely try to get players that they feel comfortable with. This is a good thing for the Tigers. Prospects are just that, someone who is unproven, he had 30 innings this year and did well but that is not a full season. They feel confident with the pitching that they have, some guys were dinged up last year but they need a bat and a SS and he fills both needs.

shockley - Renteria hit .332 this year (the highest avg. of his career,) and it was the first time he's played less than 149 games since 1998, so I'm not sure you have any idea what you're talking about.
Great deal for the Tigers. They gave up a pitcher with 30 career innings pitched and a prospect for an all-star caliber shortstop. Who WOULDN'T make that deal? Besides morons on Y! Answers I mean.

the reason the Braves traded Renteria grew to become into because of the fact they have already got a SS who has great means in Yunel Escobar and because of the fact the Braves have a declining payroll they chosen to commerce Renteria for their 2 greatest desires a beginning pitcher and a centerfielder for the emptiness left via Andruw Jones the ultimate CF of all time. i think of it grew to become right into a stable commerce and the Braves could have the extra advantageous of the deal. Renteria is a great SS and grew to become right into a hitting gadget for the Braves as I honestly have watched him as i'm a Braves fan.

its a good trade now, but i have noticed that the tigers are doing nothing but getting older with the trades they make. look at what they play against in a young team like the indians, and look who they have gotten in trade... renteria, sheffield, ordonez, polanco, pudge, guillen... granted, they are still productive but all are in their mid to late 30's... i think inge is up there too... the youngest guy that starts is granderson.
look what happened to the white sox when they decided to go after old guys... and look what position they are in now. its definitely not a good position.

With Carlos Guillen I have no idea why you make this trade. Renteria has not been as successful as he was early in his career and is always a liability to get hurt. I don't know a lot about who the Tigers traded away but the deal doesn't seem to make sense.
