Oh crap, I see they are just mailing them out now. It is a scam.....like they have told us on the news where I live. For one thing, you have to either play or enter a contest in order for you to win and two is you should nevr have to give money to get money. its good your dad is on the phone with the police...hopefully these butts get caught of trying to take advantage of us. I have never received a check but I have gotten many e-mails on winning. Like I told my friends, I never knew I had won so much in lottery or so many wealthy family dying everywhere that Ive never even heard of.

Good luck to you and be careful!

It's a scam. The check is no good.

They want you to cash it and send them real money it will be a couple of weeks before your bank knows the check is no good. By that time you are out the money and you will never get back the money you sent them, not to mention the overdraft fees.

Do not cash it and do not sent the money.

This is a scam. Do not attempt to cash it. There was a story on the news about this. If you sent them $2500, they will not send you anything. You will be out that money and someone else will be celebrating. If you need food, you can contact your local Catholic Charities. They will give out bread and canned foods. You don't have to be catholic to get help.

This is a typical scam. Don't cash it, and do contact the police. They may not be able to do much, but you never know. Scams like that are hard to trace. Don't ever trust free money, especially from a game or contest that you didn't even enter.

How are people so gullible? Who would send you a random check? And if they had 4 grand to give away, why would they need 2,500? Basically, and banks have cashed these before, youll cash it under your name, then when it comes back fake your out 6,500, the 4 grand you owe whoever cashed it and the 2500 you sent out. There is no such thing as free money.

This is one of the most common scams. If your mother was to actually cash the check, it would bounce. Report it to local authorities.

It is a fake check. If the bank doesn't catch it when she goes to cash it they will later and she will be in trouble.
