To deny the obvious is equivalent to lying . Spreading false rumors that will eventually infect the minds of the less informed , the criminally unstable , and unfortunately , our youth .
Every Holocaust survivor is hurt every time some fool does this . And I wouldn't doubt that they wipe the tears from their eyes with their hand. . . . their tatooed serial numbered hand from the Nazis !

A Human Rights Violation if I ever saw one .

Shouldn't this also be a Yahoo Answers Violation ?

Gosh I really think most of you missed the point here . I'm not talking about Constitutional Rights , I'm talking about Yahoo guidelines , which are absolutely no reflection of the constitution . According to nearly every respondent's logic , we should have the right to say anything . And that is not the case either on Yahoo , or even in our country . Some things are illegal . . . Child Predator Talk for one . So according to you Child Predators should be allowed to say whatever they want . And I doubt you'd really talk rights and constitution when it comes to that .

Everyone is entitled to their opinion no matter how foolish it is.

This is a question to some extent about freedom of speech. Spreading false rumours, and deliberately lying about matters such as these are of course appallling but this is the price we have to pay for freedom of speech which is one of things the Nazi's took away.

The American linguist Noam Chomsky has spells it out lucidly in defending a persons right to promulgate appalling holocaust denying views

"... it is precisely in the case of horrendous ideas that the right of free expression must be most vigorously defended; it is easy enough to defend free expression for those who require no such defense "

Whether this should be an yahoo answers violation is up to the company who runs yahoo, as we are all availing ourselves of their services and the comapny is not a democracy.

For what it is worth I don't think it should be for the reasons given above

Horrible though the holocaust was, it's a constitutional right to deny any truth. If you walk around spreading the message that 2+2=5, you're an idiot, but you still have the right to do so.

Freedom of Speech must come first.

No -- denial is not the same as lying.

Denial means you don't believe something -- lying means you know that what you are saying is false. Very different.

If you believe something -- or don't believe it -- then you have the absolute right to express your opinion. Whether anyone else agrees with that opinion or not.

And every hateful or bigoted statement hurts someone -- but that doesn't stop half the world from being prejudiced and hurtful and discriminatory -- whether we like it or not.

I'm never going to tell someone they don't have the right to express their opinion or belief -- whether I agree or disagree with that opinion or belief. It's sad that some people think freedom of speech should only apply if the majority agrees with the opinions being expressed -- they seem to have missed the entire point of why this country was founded in the first place.

No. It could start a problem possibly. If we make one thing a violation than where does it stop. Some people may not like your song lyrics, some might not like posting about US policy. Too many rules can be bad. We would just be sitting here looking at a blank screen

Let me ask this? Why is it less to deny the Genocide of Christian Armenians 90 years ago when the Holocaust was 70 years ago, and to say we need Turkey which if you read documents of WWII the same was said about the Nazi's and much more. They are not hurting us. And they are the enemy of my enemy Stalin. So as a life long Republican who is first a Conservative and a Christan I can not side with my so called Christian Conservatives who side with Turkey any more than I can side with the left who sides with Iran and other Muslim countries who deny the Holocaust.

Now give me the rants and raves but right and wrong has no sides. Jesus did not pick and chose like the sand hadrons for power now do any of you who claim to follow God and abortion rights or should I say right to life, is it only for what fits your wants? Or do you stand up for right.

I agree. I like how you think. Yes, while Yahoo is busy booting people off for comments on Muslims, they should be also concerned about the Jews. I'm a Catholic and I can't believe the hatred that is allowed toward Jews. Some of my best friends are Jewish. It makes me sick.

I loath people who deny the Holocaust - they are obviously liars and anti-Semites.

But I draw a hard line when it comes to giving government the power to criminize speech, however odious such speech might be.

Nobody who cherishes liberty and freedom would consider the criminalization of any speech, with a few currently existing exceptions (slander/libel, threats, inciting violence, etc).

"Hate crime" legislation and PC speech codes have made "1984" and "thought-crime" into a reality. That is a shameful legacy for us, whose birthright of freedom and liberty was purchased at such high costs.

This more or less a public forum.....people should be free to offer up any opinion they'd like.

That is what free speech is all about...no matter how vile, or absurd the statement maybe...here in America they have a right to say it.

So no, I don't think a violation should be given.

I want to give violations notices to those that are against free speech no matter how ignorant the speech is.

Edit: I agree with you Earnest I say we stop Child Predators from using their free speech, that we can catch them after it's too late! Good Job!

Well, in a way, if we refuse to let them spew their ignorant lies, we can't detect the true enemy...
I mean, without his antisemitic rantings about the exaggerated death totals....and how they mostly died of disease and not gas chambers, how else would I know the gray haired loon was such a, well, lunatic...I am always curious as to why links to these "scholars" are never posted...or their credentials....

I say let them be ignorant....and let us be fully aware of that ignorance....I sincerely pray, that no survivor, or family member of a survivor, allows such blatant, unjustified hatred, to adversely affect them in any way.

I think having survived atrocities such as the prison camps, these ranting are just a nuisance...much as a blood sucking flea would be...

But I do love your faithfulness towards our Jewish brethren.
