Not everyone can play in New York. You have to have thick skin, like the people. If you can't deal with the pressure, you better not play in NY. Players like that belong in a nice quiet place where the fans don't care about their team and only follow when they're winning. Yankee fans have an exceptional knowledge of the game and use it to their advantage.

People need to really open their eyes. Yes, Arod can hit the ball. Not the low and away pitch, but if a pitcher makes a mistake, Arod 80% of the time will hit it hard. Problem is in the playoffs you dont face many pitchers who make mistakes. Two teams before the Yanks recognized this and traded Arod away, and now the Yanks are just gonna let him go for opting out cause they have seen the light. Arod knows he isnt great, and knows he doesnt cant produce in the Post season. He also realizes he will never be embraced like Derek, or Posada, who has come through in the post season. A-rod is a head case who is his own worst enemy. Its a shame that so much talent is in a man who does not know how to harness it. To all you pitchers out their, LOW AND AWAY SLIDER, watch the tapes. Yankee fans got tired of watching their star strike out while Ortiz and Ramirez always seem to come through but yet dont get paid arods money. Funny, which team is holding the Trophy this year.

Why not!! They Boooooed him from day one.!! Why would any player want to put up with being blamed and boooed all the time??
I can't wait until he goes somewhere else and beats the Yanks in the playoffs. And I am a Yankee fan !!
"Ortiz and Ramirez always seem to come through but yet dont get paid arods money" - they get close the last time I checked....22+ million for a DH??

People can complain all they want, but from listening to Hank Steinbrenner and some of the stuff going on down there in the Bronx, I myself would question what is going on within the organization, not that I am giving excuses because I am a big A-Rod hater.
But then again we know its all about the money and attention for A-Rod.

He was tired of living in NY (you couldn't pay me to live there, either, to be honest) and fed up with the fickle fans and press there. Why stay in a place he doesn't love when he can go elsewhere and make more money and maybe start enjoying his job again?

He opted out of the remaining part of his contract after the Yankees told him if he did they would not resign him.

Because it is the worst team to play for. A-Rod hit 173 Homeruns and had 513 RBI's in Yankee Stadium, and the fans Booed him.

Couldnt play his best position, SS. Always got Booed. Hated the media. Hated the ownership. Didnt get along with his teamates. Ultimately it was Jeters fault though.
And this will all be proven when he signs for less money than the Yankees were gonna give him.

Money, greed and an idiot agent named Boras. What a stupid move saying something on the eve of game 4 of the series. They both hurt themselves when they did this.
