Pretty soon "self discipline and planning" is going to mean figuring out how to make just enough money to still qualify for government assistance and filling out a lot of paperwork.

In a free, capitalist society, those who complain the loudest are typically those who want the maximum benefit for the minimum effort.
They hate Donald Trump not because of his goofy hair or tired catchphrases... but because he's successful.
They believe "all men are created equal" means that we all should make the same amount of money and we all should have the same things regardless of whether we work hard to achieve things or lie around watching Springer all day.

I'm against ANY politician who is for "Leveling the playing field" and the worst offender there is Hillary Clinton.
She wonders why people call her a socialist and a communist?
She gets funding from China and she espouses "redistribution of wealth"entitlement programs under the guise of "leveling the playing field."

If some of these folks put the kind if energy into ambitious pursuits that they put into whining... they'd be ahead of the game and not asking for a handout.

Great question.

I have always thought of a fair and level playing field defined as equality of opportunity.

However, so many of today's pandering politicians have redefined the phrase to mean equality of results.

Great question. Actually bad judgment is rewarded more than good judgment and hard work. If you screw off your whole life the government takes money from you and gives it to someone who hasn't made the right decisions. Therefore, rewarding bad behavior and punishing success. Backassward.

There is no connection between the two concepts. "Level the playing field" means everyone adopts the same rules. We don't put tariffs on goods. Other countries don't put tariffs on our goods. That is a level playing field.

Darwinism has been thwarted and we are breeding a sloth society.

Work hard and succeed or be lazy and starve to death it makes no difference to me.
