How is technology used in hospitals nowadays compared to back then*?

*Back then refers to the 1800s. Anything would be appreciated. I'm doing another research paper and I could use the help.

many diseases from that time have been destroyed from the creation of vaccines and tests and stuff, i suppose you can say treatment for cancer and that, but i dont think there was cancer back then as much as now so it really doesnt count

This should not be too hard. Watch House or ER or one of those and think about CAT scans, MRI, vaccines, pacemakers, by-pass surgery, anesthetic, antiseptics, X rays.
