This proves a conundrum, as a tracking chip in small children would make it easier if a child was kidnapped to locate them, it is also in the works to chip alzheimer's patients who wander away from their homes so that they can be located before they are injured or die from exposure. It is a slippery slope, because if we chip our children, do they have the option of removing said chip when they reach their majority? What if the children belong to parents in a cult, say like that Warren Jeffs ran, where if they left a dangerous and abusive situation, they could be tracked down? Abusive foster care settings who don't want the children to leave so they can keep getting paid? (recent case in NJ where kids were kept in cages). Then the next step is the government wanting to chip everyone so they know your whereabouts, then the chip will have all your medical information, then your banking info......then, not to get into the religious realm, but arent' we then taking what is referred to as the 'mark of the beast'? The beast not necessarily being the anti-christ as a person, but as big, universal government.

I would really think about this. I know I would not do it to any of my children.
All that said are you assured there would not be abuses with this chip? There are people who hack into computers, whose to say someone wouldn't be able to follow your kid?
What if this chip got infected, or became dislodged, or got into the blood stream by some freak accident. It might only happen once but isn't that once too often if it was your kid?
Would the chip only be scanned if the child was found by the police, or is it really a tracker? I can see the abuses here too, can't you?

It may be legal. However, I think such a tracking device has the potential to backfire. One of the benefits of this would be for parents and law enforcement to be able to quickly locate a missing or abducted child. However, like with any surveillance technology, there is the potential for abuse. Criminals and other unscrupulous individuals, should they get their hands on such tracking devices, would be able to use it and use to prey upon children.

Can the chip be removed at 18 safely without scaring .
All this talk about tracking and capturing people reminds me of early man and his apparent need to hunt for food .
Man seems to enjoy hunting . Is this just all part of mankinds need to control everything .

It is legal and was FDA approved three or more years ago. They've actually implanted it on some newborns.
California, I believe, uses it on child molesters to track them.

IDK really but in a way it is a good idea... you know they have removable tracking devices such as bracelets and such and also I think you can put them in teeth but I could be totally wrong- I don't think they'd allow you to actually put anything IN your kid such as a microchip they put in dogs but you never know

protect our kids from what? where is the trust?
why do parents need to be in panic about their childrens whereabouts?
TALK to your kid. they will tell you where they are going, when they will be back and even call you when their there.
Children are humans that will become adults. not science experiments

I believe a parent has the right to implant the chip just as much as a woman has the right to her own body.
