The check engine light came on and when I ran the error codes is comes up as cylinder misfire. I changed the plugs, wires and Ignition coil. but still has the same codes, what can it be? the computer?

I had all the codes cleared out and when I drive the van the light comes back on. this started happening after I got the fuel pump replaced and the fuel filter changed. I also had the fuel pressure tested and that's fine. I don't feel anything when I drive but I would like to get this resolved.

Are the injectors an expensive item. I wouldn't do this work, I will have my mechanic do the work.

This all started when my van would just die, no warning, no signs. I took it to a local mechanic since I was far from my home and they told me that it was the fuel pump and filter. I changed those items and a day later the engine light came on. I had the codes checked and it was multi cyl. misfire. My mechanic change the ing.coil first, then the plugs and wires. didn't solve the problem, then we checked the fuel pressure, that was fine. I did a fuel injection cleaning, that didn't work. The only thing that I can think of is either a short somewhere, god knows how I'll ever find that or the engine computer, since there was a couple times the the code reader device had a hard time connect to the van's computer. but evenually it did.

I don't know what else to check for or do.

It's probably not an injector. Most of the engines in that year vehicle still have a cap and rotor including the 4 cylinders. You didn't mention if you changed those. If equiped that also could be a problem.

Did you get two plug wires crossed?
A bad distributor could be the problem.
An injector won't give you a mis-fire code in most cases.
Also one of the new plugs could have a crack in the porcelin.
Did you recheck the codes and see if it was the same cylinders?
300 random misfire
301 cylinder one misfire
302 cylinder two misfire..............and so on.

If you can still read a chrysler computer it usually isn't the computer.

Well there is some added information.

97 mini van knowing engine size would help. the 4 cyl and the 3.3 3.8 v6 engines used cank and cam position sensers to control the ignition and fuel injection timing if they are starting to go bad engine dieng and misfiring would be the symptoms also false cyl misfire codes due to inacurate rpm readings. if the motor is still running rough, or misfireing then recheck the igniton work already done. also check for vacum leaks if the codes are resetting without the engine misfiring then using a graphing scan tool or a digitial lab scope watch the patterns from the cmp and ckp sensors as the car is driven and see if one or both sensors is skiping or losing signal . if so replace that sensor. also i have seen cracked flywheels cause the crank signal to vary enough to throw a misfire code.

Did you change the plugs/wires at the same time you changed the fuel pump? Or did you change them trying to fix the problem? Did you change the fuel pump trying to fix this problem and still have it then change the plugs wires (or vise versa)?

Did you check the timing belt to make sure it didn't jump a tooth? Timing belt could be bad, skipped a tooth, and causing a misfire since it's no longer timed correctly.

If you changed the parts all at the same time, then check the plugs to make sure they aren't cracked, if they're OK, then check the wires to make sure they're pushed on all the way.

If you've done all of this (especially if you've replaced all of that for this specific problem), then it's now time to let a professional take a look at it.

injectors are possible and the parts are fairly expensive. labor should not be too bad. but get it diagnosed before throwing parts at it it could be a problem with the head as well or like you said the controller thats about $500.00 for the part and a couple hours diag and replacement

If you only have a code reader - you need to have the codes cleared and read again.

If you have a diagnosis machine - clear the codes and re scan

Check your crank relay, check for any fault codes and the auto shut down relay maybe toast

Did you disconnect the battery and erase the codes after the repair?

ON ANY TYPE OF VEHICLE THAT HAS A CYLINDER MISFIRE YOU CAN BET THAT THE INJECTOR OR INJECTORS ARE BAD.
