I think self centered people...are just that, self centered. Not that they know more about themselves. Everyone knows more about themselves then everyone else. Misunderstood people, Einstien, Beethoven, Monet, Picasso, to everyday people, are people that have conflict in life. People that everyone else seems to think are bad (or stupid, wrong, no insight) When in fact they helped the whole human race discover new things (beauty, mathmatics, music, life) Self centered people are just thinking about themselves all the time. Caring only for one person. THEM. They think they are lifes greatest gift. That's just what I think

I know myself very very well but I dont think that makes me self centred.

To me self centred means selfish. As in always putting yourselve before others. It depends on the people involved and the situation to determine whather being selfish is ok or not in any given situation.

For example..... you daughter needs new shoes for school... but you've seen a gogeous new dress (that you'll never wear) and you cant afford to buy both! Buying the dress would be self centred and wrong.

On the other hand...... you and your frined both apply for the same job... you get the job and your friend doesn't and they are really upset.... but you take the job anyway. Self centred??? Yeah a little. But I think that would be the right decision to make in that situation.

In my humble opinion. Those people we refer to as self-centered are more often than not just sheep. They follow all the wrong people or ideas for all the wrong reasons, then act aloof, when called on it. Sort of like George W Bush when he defends his school record.

Sometimes they are and sometimes not. Depends on the person. Some people are just more focused on other things rather than being 'personable' and some people really are just self-centered.

They are usually just self centered. I really feel this way. I am around a few self centered people. It's all about "Me, myself, and I."

Why do they have to be mutually exclusive? I think the answer to your question is "both".
