Let me make it so simple that even anti-McCanns should be able to understand...

I do not condone child neglect of any kind.

But that does not mean that I must have no compassion or sympathy for two people who have been without their child for 6 months.

If you feel that it does then I pity you and your simple minds.

Imagine if doctors and nurses were like anti-McCanns...

Alcoholics with liver damage would just be left to die - "I'm not treating you, serves you right for drinking so much."

What a horrible and nasty world that would be.

No! Compassion is a human trait. It does not need to be earned, it is a human instinct.

People who lack compassion are lacking in what it means to be human.

WHY do you believe they are involved? WHY do you believe Maddie is dead? I'll tell you why - because you're a sucker for media hype, that's why. You have NO proof whatsoever on which to base your beliefs.

Such beliefs are dangerous.

It doesnt matter which way this is dressed, the child is gone. That is the sad part, sad sad sad but it didnt have to be this way did it.You can rant at me all you like,my wife and i were there when our daughter passed aged six, blind and deaf, but we didnt close the door and walk away, and expect a heap of sympathy because we just had to walk out Nobody gave me anything and i was back on my postbike within a week and i am a neckbreather.I have never smoked or drank, and yet we end up with more than our fair share of trouble. But if i make a mistake then here it is I GOT IT WRONG,NOT ROCKET SCIENCE have my life talk like a robot, but stop trying to justify to me that it was right and normal, because it isnt

It makes me wonder if all those who feel the 'need' to 'defend child neglectors' would feel the same if it had been their child the Mc's and their cronies were checking on, would they still defend them then? My children are most precious in my life and I would never ever leave them alone unless they were with someone who I could totally trust... Edit: that about somes the 'mother' of the century up little weed! Well said elsie, couldn't agree more. Heidi, well said. There are many more of these 'stupid' people about and it's not hard to notice who!

I see your point, but their behavior is the reason many people don't sympathize with them, not just that they left the children. The police have information that we don't see...obviously they must be suspects for a reason.

Have you heard of Amy Billig? Amy was kidnapped in the U.S. in 1974 by a biker gang. Her mother travelled all over the world to find her. No, she didn't just show her face on TV and speak to powerful people. She actually went to biker bars and talked to bikers. Sadly both Amy's parents died without hearing any news of her (she is still missing). Now that's a devoted mother.

Have Kate and Gerry McCann done anything to find Madeleine besides do interviews? If there are sightings in Morrocco then why aren't they over there trying to find her?

This has also bothered me, but I haven't responded to it.
MissEsse, you have said that the only reason the child is missing is because the parents couldn't be bothered to look after her.
Do you think there might be something else as well?
I agree that if the parents had been there then she would not be missing, but do you think there is another reason?

How about - some sick person went in there, lifted her and took her away?
Do you think that might be a reason as well?
No abuse from me....but people don't forget that!!

By the way, I don't support or condone child neglect, and I suspect that there isn't a single pro-Mccann who actually does!!

Doctors make choices everday, who & not to treat,
And the British Media are pro McCann, so it's you who believes the media hype eh?
I have every compassion for Madeleine, but very little for people who neglect their children.
What compassion did they show their children, by leaving them alone while they went out drinking with friends?

I find it amusing that since the emergence of the more recent trend of baying for the McCanns' heads, it is forgotten that the popular media position was originally the one you claim as your own and seperate to any kind of mass media influence.

Furhtermore, you are deliberately over-simplifying the perspective of not being entirely sympathetic to the McCanns in order to present this point of view as simple.

The issues involved are complex and only a simpleton would seek to fight a single corner as a simple cause over such.

More importantly, the issue that should have the majority of energy and resources devoted to it is that of the whereabouts and status of Madeline.

Diverting attention away from this serves to aid only those responsible for her disappearance (whether meaning her to be dead or alive), yet her parents seem keen to pursue certain diversionary activities. That is a simple observation.

I'm not dumb, and I wouldn't presume to make an automatic link between sympathy for distressed parents and support for child neglect. It is a bit naughty for you to suggest that I & others like me have done so.

You don't know us, we don't know you, and presumably none of us actually know the McCanns - let alone what really happened to their poor lost child - so NONE of us are particularly qualified to comment or make judgements one way or the other.

Edit: 3 thumbs down for simply stating the obvious - that NONE of us can say for sure what happened & who is guilty or innocent. How can the so-called 'pros' and 'antis' be so certain of their respective positions???

Only a handful of anti's feel this way and only a handful of pro's be-little the anti's believing them to have simple minds.
We all have different opinions for different reasons. As long as their are no insults or abuse, that's fine with me.
I do understand what your trying to say though and yes,it would be a horrible and nasty world.

Actually someone is a bit naive and uniformed, perhaps should not be calling others dumb. If you are an alcoholic or drug addict it is common place by policy to remove you from or freeze you on a donors list for a liver (for example) until you can provide evidence of your willingness and intent to stop drinking or abusing illegal drugs.(livers are hard enough to come by and a limited resource)The idea is why waste a liver on someone who will only put themselves back in a life threatening condition. Secondly people are not anti McCanns however the McCanns used money donated to their find their child fund to make mortgage payments, and have been added to a list of suspects in the case of their missing child. People are not insensitive, however they are not all so gullible to discount the misappropriations of funds ear marked for finding their child for non related expenses. It is also possible that foul play may be involved on their part 1,000,000+ pounds is a lot of money (that is the total of donated monies to the fund) and to exonerate them and call others stupid for apprehension is stupid.
