Last night one of my two rabbits died of a heart attack. The one left is starting to become lonely. Any solutions to this, other than buying a new one?

Spend more quality time with it. Try putting a stuffed toy about the same size as your rabbit in it's cage. Sometimes they'll snuggle up and groom the toy just the same as they did their old bunny friend.

Bunnies get depressed just the same as humans do. Your bun likely isn't lonely so much as grieving it's friend.

It probably wasn't a heart attack. I hope you didnt' have the two rabbits together in the same cage. That could have possibly contributed to the rabbit's death. When rabbits are put together in the same cage they tend to chase each other around. Rabbits when they are scared or are fighting will race around inside the cage. The rabbit then can often run into the side of the cage and break their spinal chord paralyzing and killing them. Many people mistake a spinal chord injury in rabbits for a heart attack. If you had an autopsy done on the rabbit by a well-trained veterinarian or a veterinarian school, I doubt that the cause of death would be determined to be a heart attack.

Rabbits do fine on their own. They are pretty lazy animals during the day just like cats and lions.

is there any reason you don't want to get a new rabbit? rabbits need company of their own kind and getting another is probably the best solution. however, you need to be careful about doing this as bonding 2 bunnies can be difficult. speak to your local rescue centre for help and advice and they should be able to help out.

Be inventive: get a fish called Wanda; a rabbit named bugs, a cat named Felix and final yet no longer least, get a dawg named Deputy--so he can make it easier to to retain all the others from entering into worry.

The rabbit will be fine. Rabbits are not pack or herd animals., they live most of the time by themselves, only coming together to breed. Rabbits do not form the same type of bonds that humans and dogs and cats do.
You do not need to get another rabbit just sprend more time with the remaining one. It will come to bond with you better since it is now by itself.

make it into to a house rabbit if it isn't already and it will have you as a 24/7 companion or you could just play with it more if you don't already, lots of hugs and cuddle to help him get over the lose of his companion:(
