I need to buy shoes for a wedding a year away, but I'm 30 wks prg and my feet are a whole size bigger than they used to be. If this happened to you before, did your feet go back to normal, or did they never get back as small as they were? And how long did it take?

thanks!

My sister says her feet have spread out and she wears anywhere from a half size to a full size depending on the shoe larger from her pre pregnancy size. Her and I use to be able to wear each others shoes (same size).... Now her shoes are to big....My foot slips right out of her shoes. (I have not had any children)

Why do you have to buy the shoes a year ahead of time?
With all the new shoes they are coming out with through out the year there will always be shoes to choose from. If it because you are in the wedding party and all are getting matching shoes...... I'm sure all would understand and willing to wait till closer to the wedding.... Maybe 2-4 months before.

Another option is the simple but elegant dyeable shoes, sandals or heels... Stores carry those and usually the same ones year round for weddings, proms and homecomings. For the slip on shoes they even have clips (shoe jewelry). You might even ask the store if you buy a shoe that is carried all the time if you bought one size now and it didn't fit in a few months after you recovered from having your baby if you could exchange for another size. If they agree to it get the conditions documented on your receipt with the managers signature.

Congrats! on the baby.. :)

I don't have kids, but I'm a hairstylist so I know A LOT of pregnant women. Your feet DO get bigger, and not just because you're gaining healthy baby weight, but your feet also grow to accommodate your body's sudden rise in weight. All of my clients many years later still ***** about all the great shoes they had to throw away, so no, I don't think they go back. If you're already a size bigger, but on the petite side and lose weight quickly, then just play it safe and buy a 1/2 bigger than you normally wear. Good luck with baby :)

My feet did not go back to normal. They are now a 1/2 size larger than before I had my daughter.

It depends on the reason for the increase in size of your feet. Women who's feet are larger because of swelling due to water retention should go back to normal within a few days after delivery.

Women who's feet increase in size due to spreading of their joints may always be a size larger than they were.

They may go back a bit, but probaly not completely. Pregnancy hormones loosen all your ligaments especially the ones in your feet due to the extra weight you are carrying. Any swelling you have should go down but you may just find yourself a half size bigger.

My feet returned to their pre-pregancy size about 6 weeks after I delivered my son. Mostly my feet had gotten wider. My doctor said this was from the hormone relastyn that your body produces to enable your pelvic region to be more flexible during delivery. It also causes the other bones/joints to relax as well, hence flatter, wider feet.

My feet are bigger now. They aren't puffy or anything but I wear 1/2 size bigger now. It may be the fact that it feels more comfortable though.

Mine did - it only took a couple of weeks, but it was mostly swelling that caused the size increase. My friend, however, had no swelling and her feet stayed the same size.
