.....can you tell me why he wasnt allowed in dugout this past season?? I forget!.....Hes a great guy, i have several autographs from him...and he let me try on his world series ring......Just a nice guy.....I wish all athletes had his character.

I actually think it was way wrong not to let him in, ...He wont be around too much longer,...and its a shame, as we dont know why his "last season"...will be.

He wasn't allowed in the dugout because MLB instituted a rule that only six coaches were allowed to be in uniform for a game. Pesky was not a coach, just an instructor, and was therefore ineligible.
You're right about his character - he's one of the good guys. I'm not a Sox fan, but it's tough not to like Pesky.

He was barred because of a major league rule that limits the number of coaches allowed in uniform and therefore in the dugout.
MLB was clear this was for all teams and it was not just Pesky.
I myself blame Keith Hernandez (cuz I love to blame him for anything) who made the comment about no girlfriends in the dugout during a broadcast of a San Diego game. (The woman was a massage therapist for the team)
After that all teams dugouts were scrutinized and Pesky was tossed out. Either the Red Sox needed to boot out one of their coaches or Pesky they choose Pesky.
I hear he is a nice guy to and they should have grandfathered him in but MLB is kind of heartless.

Part of not letting him into the dugout, stems from the leg breaking injury he sustained last year, while in the dugout. He's a much loved player, and riding on one of the duck boats, in the celebration parade...

One good thing is he is participating in the Red Sox Rally. He was riding in one of the duck boats.
