i think maybe for her you might just want to send her a happy holidays card instead of a christmas card...she may celebrate Hanukkah with her husband and she might feel like you don't respect that aspect of her life...it doesn't matter if she's catholic...good luck

Jewish people don't send Christmas cards because Christmas is not a Jewish holiday. This shouldn't be difficult to figure out. Did you assume that everyone in the world celebrates the same holidays as you?

Here's a question for you: Why do Christian people not send Rosh Hashanah cards during Rosh Hashanah?

Now, either you have no idea how to answer that question, or the answer is so obvious you can't understand why someone would ask in the first place. Well, the above question is perfectly analogous to yours, so hopefully it makes things clear for you.

That being said, if Christianity is all about selflessness, kindness and patience and compassion, and Christmas is all about spreading good will towards one's fellow man, isn't it kind of un-Christian that you're sick of sending a friend Christmas cards because she doesn't do the same? Do you only give a gift with the expectation of getting one in return? Does that not strike you as selfish and, again, un-Christian? Of course, if your friend was Jewish, I would suggest that the sensitive thing to do would be not to assume that everyone celebrates your religion's holidays, but since she's also Christian, I suppose this doesn't apply.

In any event, if your friend doesn't send out cards on a particular holiday out of deference to her husband's beliefs, who are you to judge?

And if it really bugs you, stop sending her Christmas cards; see if spiting your friend at Christmastime makes you feel any better.

I worked with a woman in high school who was Jewish and her husband was Christian and they never sent out cards for either.

Christmas is not a Jewish holiday. Jews from the dawn of time were forbidden to participate in any holidays and rituals outside of the Jewish religion. Therefore it's perfectly acceptable and expected to not give out Christmas cards. By not sending out any Christmas cards, she is choosing to be respectful of his religious beliefs, however extreme that may be on her part.

Do research on Judaism and it's beliefs before you go making ignorant accusations and claims.

Do you remember to send Passover and Rosh HaShana cards to them? No? Then why are you angry about not receiving Xmas cards from them. Some say Christmas is for giving, but obviously some haven't got the message yet!

Well, duh! You don't send cards out for the Buddhist or Muslim holidays, now do you?

Jews think that celebrating ANY of the Christian holidays makes one a traitor to Judaism.

===edit===

In case you missed my point, it is an inherent insult to send a Christmas card to someone who is Jewish.

why would a Jew take part in a tradition generally ascribed to a religion that has not always been open and accepting of them?

sending any card should not be an obligation. if it bothers you, don't send them one. If you're "sick" of it, it sounds like you've been doing it for all the wrong reasons.

Are you serious!?

Jewish people don't believe in Christ therefore why would they celebrate Christmas. Maybe she wants to support her husband without making him feel awkward.
