Not even science can deny it exists. We know at the moment of death as the soul leaves the body we lose one ounce. From this, it is clear that are souls go on long after we do. In search of another vessel to carry them further.
I believe our souls are not made, but given to us as a gift from a superior being. What ever you choose that to be. All paths will lead back to one.
Our souls are beyond our understanding. We should listen to them more and if we all are, at this very moment....
Then we will all leave with more than we had moments ago.

Self-Knowledge will give you the nature of one's own soul.

Most people who are brought up in political life without philosophy are habituated towards self-interest. [Souls are a combination of desire (different forms), will (action) and reason (intelligence).] In the political life desire is primary. Then reason is inferior to desire and will is the ambition.

It is best to have reason and desire balanced together followed by your will.

To answer your Q: I would like to think that my soul is balanced but I had to make it that way (with God) after fighting the way I was socialized into self-interest.

There is no religious meaning of the soul from the Greek but I do believe that we all have one at conception and that it is all we have when we die.

the immediate action between the "egg" coming into contact with the "sperm". The egg has no life within itself..and the pperm has life, but not the "soul life" but the ability of the "spirit". now, when egg (earth) and sperm( spirit) come into contact with each other..they create the "soul" which is the mediator between the spirit self, and the body..and the soul is the living "self" the we hear and know as the "person".

Just as, for your human body to be made, you need the physical union of your human father and human mother; you, as a living super-physical soul, have the pure spirit fragment of God within you as the Father of you as soul, and the Spirit of God-consenting "mother" human mind, and both together equally co-creating the duplicate soul identity you.

You are now a living soul seeking God and his perfect Spirit and having mind and body tools to cosmically interact in this universe. You are not just a human body having a soul "thing" somwehere. At physical death, your body returns back to the dust of the earth. You are, sooner or later, resurrected (re-personalized) up on the next higher probationary mansion world Heaven made by our Sovereign Creator and Savior Jesus Christ for our continued perfection attainment. There you, as a living soul, will be just as you left off down here, but your mind and soul body will be much higher --more real; this allows the potential of much more rapid spiritual growth. Spiritual growth does forever increase at an exponential rate, not merely a linear rate.

You as soul, if you desire to continue to seek God and to learn ever better to do his will, will continue to ascend forever as one combined personality, spirit, soul and mind, and with eventually a fully perfect Spirit Form (super-super-super-physical body) possibly in about one trillion more years from our view. At that high Eternal Paradise Reality level, both space and time have little meaning. The Absolute of time is Eternity; the Absolute of space is Paradise; the Absolute of Personality You is GOD. Even here and now, you may be freely given the sacred God-consciousness to Know in Final Destiny that you are now a divinely beloved Son of God: an "I am of I AM; and I choose to Be in I AM Eternally".

The stepped-down capacity of God, individuated as creaturely embodiment with skill to make selection, is soul. the interior baby, the thoughts of goodness, love, etc, is what can be talked about as the "soul field," or the danger for one's energies to individuate completely. this happens because the soul learns and turns into existence, actuality, Love, etc. How soul expertise will strengthen is dramatically shown in C. S. Lewis' novella "the tremendous Divorce." "the course of the better Self," Mark Prophet, also explains.

Rather than 'made,' your soul evolves. Individually, our lifeforce is a gradually developing 'consciousness' that eventually transcends, entirely, the body-level identity. Subsequently with each incarnation there is a cognitive 'awareness of being' separate from the conditioned ego and its limited circumstances.

This begs the question. You assume that a soul exists. I see no evidence of it. I do not see that you or I have any such things as souls. The category is PHILOSOPHY, after all.
