I took A+ back in 2005. It was one test on hardware and oe test on operating systems. I heard they have changed the test since then and there are three braches of A+ now.
try http:\\www.comptia.com

Its not too hard to get, you definetly want to study or take a class. A community college probably offers the cheapest classes. I believe you can download a free practice test at http:\\www.actualexams.com

MCP is definetly harder, I just took 70-270 this summer. To be a MCP you just have to pass one test that hasn't been "retired." You definetly want to take a class for this test.
Microsoft has may, many tests to be certified. You should look into MCSA.
Try http:\\www.microsoft.com and search for certifications.

hope this helps...

A trained seal can get an A+. If you have a strong background in PCs, go for a harder cert. If you are new to computers, then the A+ will be a decent foundation.
