Here is all ways to fasten ur PC ::
1. You should be having at least 512 MB or 1 GB RAM if u plahy games which req. big space and graphics.
2. Do not use antiv-virus like NOrton, McAfee etc. They dont do anything except slowing the PC by constantly runnin virus scan whenever u put any CD or DVD, download any file etc. THE BEST ANTIVRUS IS AVG- Its free, fast and effective.
3. STRICTLY DO NOT DEFRAG YOUR PC EVER. It will displace ur files and there will be slow speed. You should do error scan every month(Right click on drive icon, properties and check scan). It is the best way to remove errors.
4. If u do not shut down PC safely, then do not cancel the system scan at startup. It is very necessary to do it.
5. Remove unwanted items from startup. Click on start, then run. Type msconfig. A window will open and then click on startup. Uncheck all unnecessary softwares running on startup.
6. Clean ur cabinet from inside every month once.
7. Do definitely a Disk cleanup every week once. (start---programs---accessorie... tools--disk cleanup).
Doing these things, it is guaranteed that ur PC will run fatser.
use this method definitely u will see a good improvement in ur internet speed.
Increse Bandwidth By 20% (XP Users)
Well if you are tired of the lessened speed of your internet then here is the better approach to increse the bandwidth.Actually the Xp reserves the bandwidth for Quality of Service(QOS) which works for downloading of the xp updates in parallel with the motion of the normal course internet. If we try to mangae the Qos then we can augment user bandwidth by 20%.
Just Follow the above process :-
Click Start–>Run–>type “gpedit.msc”.
This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:
Local Computer Policy–>Computer
Configuration–>Administrative Templates–>Network–>QOS
Packet Scheduler–>Limit Reservable Bandwidth
Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the ‘Explain’ tab :
“By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default.”
Click start go to "Run" then type cmd then press ok..
Then a window will pop pup..type net user then enter. Now You'll the accounts on you computer..Now type "net user(space)(name of the account)(space)then asterisk then press enter..For Example
net user joe *
Now u can change the password
Here are the steps involved to De Hack or restore the Window XP Administrator Password to cover your tracks.
Go to Start –> Run –> Type in CMD
You will get a command prompt. Enter these commands the way it is given
cd\
cd\ windows\system32\temphack
copy logon.scr C:\windows\system32\logon.scr
copy cmd.exe C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
exit
Or simply go to C:\windows\system32\temphack and copy the contents of temphack back into system32 directory click Yes to overwrite the modified files.
or
1. Run Disk clean-up. Then delete unused files. (start>program>accessories>sys... tools> disk clean-up)
2. Check for disk errors. (right click on a disk-drive>properties>tools >error checking, then restart)
3. Run disk defragmenter for all drives.
4. Delete cookies. (you can do it from your browser options: tools>internet options)
5. Delete cache or temporary files. (you can do it from your browser options) or, click on 'start", 'run', type 'temp' then click ok. Whatever shows up, just delete.
6. Delete all history files. (you can do it from your browser options, or, CTRL + H, then delete)
7. Empty recycle bin.
8. Delete unused icons & short-cuts from anywhere including desktop.
9. Uninstall and delete any software or game that you use only once or twice in a week, or don't even use.
10. Delete temporary internet files. (you can do it from your browser options: tools>internet options)
11. Delete all recent files. (click on start, click run, then type "recent", delete all the files which show up)
12. Run a full virus scan. If any threat found, eliminate that completely.
13. Run a software which can remove any spyware or adware.
Like: Ad Aware, Windows defender etc.
14. Click Start > Run and type "msconfig" at the prompt. Click the Startup tab and look at all that junk that loads when you launch your PC. Turn off anything else that looks useless, but be careful not to disable Windows system components.
If you did these all at the same time, restart your computer. All these to be done once in a week if possible, depending on the frequency of use of your PC.
* Updating: (Needed only when updates are available)
15. Update your Windows by installing latest updates.
16. Update your audio & video drivers.
17. Update softwares, browsers, games that you use.
In Internet Explorer click on Tools then Internet Options and look for the section Browsing History and click the Delete button underneath. Next Click the Delete Files button next to Temporary Internet Files.
The System Restore facility is a useful safety feature but it can also use up a lot of space, so occasionally it is worth clearing out the old restore points.
To do this, go to Control Panel, click on System then on the System Restore tab. Tick to turn off System Restore and click Apply, this will clear out all old restore points. Now un-tick to turn System Restore back on and use the slider to specify the amount of disk space you want it to use for future restore points.

1..Scan for any viruses or Malware
2. Check your connections and make sure everything is tight and connected, even inside the PC. Unplug and power off the PC before doing this, and while inside the PC go ahead and blow the dust out with air-in-a-can.
3. Here is a guide for PC Performance 4 future reference http://www.blackviper.com/
4. Update Host files: http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
5. DeFrag the Hardrive, and do it again if nessasary.
6. Eventually I would get that 512Mb up to atleast 1gb of RAM
7. Could Be your Internet Connection???Any repair or construction going on in your area???Call your ISP if its only the Internet that is slowing down!!!
8. Might have to adjust your Virtual Memory http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpvm.php
9. Clean up the Hardrive..Delete Temp files ( Just right Click on the Hardrive>>Properties>>Tools)
Good LUck
4 Future Refernece. I would find a Defragg program called "Diskeeper" Tons better than the Windows Defragger and you have more options like defraging the Boot files and Paging files aswell.

Using a registry cleaner can clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some regsitry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".
Everytime you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Regisry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically! It even can speed up your computer by 300% or more!
There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.

Looks like it could be malware infection. If you have already ensured that there are no viruses or malware, you might want to check the HDD, see how full it is. An often overlooked culprit of lagging behavious is severe levels of drive fragmentation. It can slow down all activites and lead to freezes etc. So analyze the drive as well.

Basic maintenance.
Do some cleaning up.. disc cleanup, disk defragmenter, maybe a registry cleaner.
It doesn't happen suddenly, it just takes a while over time to do it and one day it feels the effects.
I would also do what the other user suggested about typing in "msconfig", but.. I wouldn't uncheck everything. There are programs needed in that checkbox list for your computer to function correctly.

It is very possible you are loaded with spyware. Download AdawareSe (do NOT use anything with a similar name) and spybot S&D. Reboot and start in safe mode (F8). Run both programs. If it is spyware and/or malware those 2 programs will clean out most of it. Make sure your anti-virus program is up to date and run that as well just to be safe.

The reason is because you have too much junk in your temporery files and misplace files that causes it to run slow. What you need to do is go to--> start, all programs, accesories, system tools, >disk cleanup (clean out your temp files and unuse files). Clean your diskspace and then repeat it agian, instead this time, ->start, all programs, accesories, system tools, >disk defragment (defrag your computer, can take a while). Next go to www.spybot.com and download their free spyware, install it and run it to kill your spyware you'll be amazed how much spyware you got.

click start>run and type msconfig, in the start up uncheck everything, restart. if you find you need something recheck it one by one. and leave your antivirus software alone
if this don't work and you have XP do a system restore back in time like 3 or 4 days ago before this occured (start>accessories)
