You can pick an object, like the fruit above, snowflakes, Santa Claus, birds, a hobby, flags, nature, rock n roll, trains, angels, puppy dogs, or an era: Victorian, Early American. You can pick a color or color combination (other than red and green). You may decide to use just mirror or crystal ornaments (OK that's expensive). Many more, but you have to decide what you are passionate about first.

I theme my Christmas almost every year but my favorite "repeat" is ginger bread boy/girl decorations. I string gumdrops (real ones!) and wrap around the tree and hang little candy canes. I make tiny little bows from pretty ribbon and hang on the tree and around the house. I get ginger bread scented candles and potpourri and burn them. It just takes on an enchanted feeling. When my children were smaller, we even themed CANDY. We only used candy to decorate. That was a fun one.
Color themes are fun too. Like blue and green or red and gold.
We just moved into a new home, with huge rooms and cathedral ceiling so I'm secretly starting to get really excited about decorating!!! Glad to see I'm not the only one!

Wow!!! Some REALLY great ideas listed! I, personally, appreciate them! Thanks for the question!

You could try a Nutcracker Ballet theme or a A Christmas Carol theme. Both are within the Victorian framework I think, so I guess you could get some Victorian period costumes and decorate your house with nutcracker figurines...just a couple of ideas.

considering that $1500 contains your jewelry i could recommend to easily get straightforward gold or silver bands. you are able to continuously get fancier jewelry later for an anniversary. you will discover mason jars exceedingly much less costly and those could make super centerpieces crammed with some wild plant life. you are able to the two %. some your self or purchase some silks extremely much less costly. Have somebody you be attentive to make your cake. Get disposable cameras and make advantageous anyone is capturing, then you definately won't omit any moments. you're able to even have a buddy use a digicam for all of the posed pictures. Get an Ipod crammed with song you adore and a docking station as a substitute of a DJ. Ask the church in the event that they have a fellowship corridor which would be obtainable for the reception. otherwise seek for a close-by knight of Columbus, or Elks hotel those styles of halls are normally exceedingly much less costly considering which you're renting merely the corridor there is no longer something blanketed. For the foodstuff, see if some kinfolk could make some dishes, or if it is on your budget see if a close-by BBQ place can cater. in my view i'm no longer loopy on the subject of the cottonball bouquet, yet you are able to placed a silk bouquet mutually your self extremely much less costly merely bypass on your close by craft keep. Even Wal-mart has some decent silk plant life, ribbon and so forth. stable good fortune!

cool...i luv this question because every two years i change up in my decoration...i change my color schemes.

when my kids were little, we just had a basic multicolor tree with the musical lights. as they got older i started the schemes. my first serious scheme was a Kinte' tree...an african american color scheme, ornaments and figurines to match. my next scheme was opalescent creme and baby blue. then it was hot pink and purple. this year it will be creme, orange and gold.

some people do victorian themes, as mentioned fruit, a friend of mine's makes ornaments out of family pics and as the family grows add to her collection.

its awfully fun...hope you enjoy your theme picking...

depends on what you like and the room that the tree will be in...my husband laughs at me because i have trees for every room in our housing and each tree has a theme that matches the room their in...ie the kitchen tree has little kitchen tools tied on it with ribbons, the living room tree has red, white and blue because my living room is that theme...good luck
