Your appearance should not have any bearing on your profession.
The specialty of oral and Maxillifacial surgery is important and a number of cosmetic facial surgeons don't even have that background. There is a huge amount of restorative surgery that is done to correct gross facial deformities that are genuine birth defects just so people can live in society without being hidden away like they once were.
I'd think if you let your appearance keep you from helping people, then you'd be as just shallow and superficial a person as someone like Paris Hilton.

The people who get plastic surgery are so wrapped up in their selves that they won't be looking at you anyway. So if you want to be the surgeon (be the surgeon. ) Get a mindset and go for it. Then you'll be happy.

Here's a story that is strangely appropriate
There's a village that had two dentists - one dentist had the whites, straightest most sparkliest teeth you could imagine - the other made Austin Powers snaggle toothed grin look positively debonair and sophisticated.
The choice was obvious - go to the ugly dentist - he does great work.
I hope you gain the experience to learn to do great work - your efforts will speak for themselves - as will your patients.
Remember also that, when in surgery, your face will be hidden by a mask - so you can frighten mice in your own time :p

You should do whatever it is that you want. If you want to be a plastic surgeon then go for it! Good for you.
Just because you may not be the perfect specimen (who is without help anyway?) does not mean you are not smart, it only shows that you are comfortable with who you are.
People don't look up pictures of doctors before we go to them, we go because they have a reputation for being very good at what they do.
DO NOT ever let the reflection and your own perception stop you from fulfilling your dreams.
Go to school to become a surgeon, help others and feel good about yourself!

I don't think it's a bad idea. Just get a partner that is very handsome. Look at it this way: If you went into a barber shop and there were two barbers. One had a great haircut while the other had a crappy one. Which barber would you want to cut your hair? Of course, the one with the bad haircut. A barber can't cut his own hair, so the one with the bad haircut probably did the good cut, and vice versa!
PS, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

You should follow your passion. Think about what your reasons are for becoming a plastic surgeon. If it brings you joy, then do it. Don't worry about what other people think. Who gets to decide what's ugly and what's not? You may want to go for some counseling to help you find your beauty. You're not as ugly as you think.

you become something because you really want it and because you're capable to do it.the beauty of the face doesn't match with how clever someone is.someone can be very handsome, but he might be so stupid that he can't even count!so,go on with your dreams, and make them come true!you can do it,because we don't choose a profession which matches with our appearance, but one which matches with the orders given by our soul.and since you really want to become a plastic surgeon, you will become!you must overcome the obstacles, because they exist only in your mind!
