Of course! They are kids despite their size, attitude, and stature. You certainly aren't gonna eat all that candy and somebody has to enjoy halloween. Why not? Give the teens and tweens and whatever the candy...

No way. I call them out too. I say, "Don't you think you're a little too old to be trick-or-treating?" They usually try the old "no, no, no, I'm only 11. I just look older." Bulls***. You're taller than me and have a deeper voice than my husband or your boobs are so big their popping out of that tacky costume you're wearing. Nope, no candy for you. Walk yourselves over to the haunted house and have some age appropriate fun. Leave the candy to the kids.
I do make a few exceptions. If they are with their younger siblings and are also dressed up or dressed up as part of their siblings costume (last year a 17 y/o dressed as a patient and his 6 y/o little sister was his 'doctor') THEN you'll probably get a piece. As for just the groups of teenagers that don't even dress up and just carry around a Wal-mart bag asking for candy..... no way.
I live on a military base, so no fear of getting egged. lol Even so, my mother enforces the same rules at her house. I guess that's where I get it from. She's never been egged or toilet papered either.

yes, why not ! If they are willing to get dressed up then there is no problem. And besides, what about 10 years olds who nowadays are 6' tall? There is no real way of telling age if the face is convered. I was fully developed at 10 years old and 5'7 and people denied candy to me and not my friends. It hurt my feelings back then! People should just suck it up and give candy if the person is in uniform ;-) for halloween.

Hey, if they have the guts to come up to a door that might be the home of one of their friends or someone else who knows them, and risk being humiliated the next day at school, then, sure, I'll give 'em a treat! (My friends and I trick-or-treated when we were in college! It was a college town, so it was pretty much expected! As long as we dressed in costume, the townies thought it was a hoot! And, of course, there was the on-campus door-to-door canvassing, too, though the "treats" weren't exactly what you'd see Martha Stewart hand out on Halloween, if you catch my drift!) ;)

i keep a bag of little suckers for the wee one and teens.
everyone else gets regular candy bars.
if per chance a teen or an adult shows up in costume then it's candy bars for them.
all the teens that come to my door have street clothes on.

We get TONS of kids every year and I give to all the kids that come to my door as long as they are in costumes.
But! I always give extra to the smaller kids, and when the big kids (over 14) come around, I make them work for it.. I usually try to get them to sing or something. I do it in a playful way so they have fun too. (and the little kids love watching me pick on the big kids)

I do reluctantly just to get rid of them. Side note: Halloween is NOT a holiday. Also, trick or treating is for children. When one reaches their teen years they should know better than to act like little kids. Time to grow up!

Depends...if they are nice and having a good time about it, and they have a good costume, I do. If they are in their street clothes and surly...I tell them I think it's nice they are out escorting the little kids and shut the door.
Some teens are really having fun with it, and they come up with very creative costumes....I like to reward that kind of behavior!
