Was just thinking about it, and although I believe he will return couldn't the Sox put Youk back at 3rd, where he used to play and shop for a first baseman? I have no idea at this point who is available for either position, but couldn't that be an option?

I did say that I thought he would be back, and the reason I was thinking about it was because I DON'T want Aro!

Youk should stay right where he is, NO ERRORS, remember? I don't care if Lowell is getting up there in years, that guy can hustle. Hopefully Lowell will stay right where he is...IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!!!!

As for A-Rod, the prima donna himself, he'd look great in a Cleveland Indians uniform. :D

I don't think they have a better option at the hot corner than Lowell. Putting Youk back there would be ridiculous because he is one of the best defensive first basemen in the league, and he made way too many errors at 3rd.

Unless they have a killer prospect waiting out there, Lowell is the best choice.

Forget A-Rod, he has no respect for the game.

I would say no because Youk is not a quality third baseman but is a better than average first baseman. But I don't think you have to worry because Lowell will be back.

I would never take Youk off of first. He was great there! I will just pray for the Sox to re-sign Lowell and I will be happy!

That is just unfathomable. MVP Lowell not returning to the Sox? The only way they will not re-sign Lowell or even Schilling (who may have another year on that arm left) is if they end up bowing down and spending all their dough on ARod. Which would tick off alot of the Sox nation ( me among them).

Hey, Dr. J...how goes it? Still haven't undergone analysis for your rageful tendencies, I see.

Dave Ortiz has a career .989 fielding percentage, Mike Lowell will be a Red Sox cornerstone into the next decade, Boston has a cache' of excellent young talent, and you, sir, could use a donut or something that will turn that frownie upside downie.

Hope that helps a tad.

Sure it could.
Lowell is getting up there in age and although he has been good for the Sox, remember, the expectations when you got him were rather low. He was a necessary throw in in the Beckett trade.

If you had got him after his monster season and expected his performance to continue, you opinion of the last two years would not have been the same.

well it could happen if it does if i was theo i would somehow try to get pujols to play first but the red sox will probably stay with lowell he is really good and not as exspensive as most third basemens

Your question says it all - why not shop for a first baseman.
1) You have an all-star first baseman. Ortiz was voted starter - so he must be a good first baseman (sarcasm implied).

2) This is why the world hates teams like Boston (as shown with the fact that this was the second least watched World Series in TV history!!). While other teams have to groom young players - Boston will just go out and buy one. Boston IS the new evil empire.
