Arod or Mike Lowell? and lets for hypothetical reasons say they earned the same amount.

Mike Lowell, by a large margin.

He is a locker room leader who the players look up to and is respectfull to the fans, the media and the game of baseball. When was the last time you heard players of the same team (Manny Ramirez, Josh Beckett, Curt Schilling, David Ortiz) come out in the media and plead for the team to resign someone like they've done for Mike Lowell? Not to mention the unending chants of the fans "Re-sign Lowell, Re-sign Lowell".

A-rod is none of the above and is more concened about himself that the team he plays for. None of his team mates will shed a tear when he's gone, they'll probably even breath a sigh of relief.

I would have Mike Lowell. He's a leader on and off the field. He plays for a TEAM. Yeah his numbers are not as good but he brings alot of intangible stuff to the team. I don't want to worry about the problem A-rod causes. And I would like my team to do well in the playoffs. We all know about a-rod in the playoffs.

Mike Lowell hands down. He's got rings, proven his talent in the World series, and is the world series mvp!

Lowell has the clutch stats, but when A-Rod settles down and just hits, he could be the best hitter in the game right now. Just playing in the Bronx with those awful fans can hurt the morale of any player. I would have A-Rod playing for my team over Lowell any day.

A-Rod is so much better than Lowell. You can bash A-Rod as much as you want, but you show such stupidity when you do it.
A-Rod has more talent in his little finger than Lowell has in his entire body. The Red Sox are winning because of superior pitching, and the Yankees are losing because of inferior pitching and the fact that, in post season play, A-Rod is pitched around.
Ted Williams, Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, Dave Winfield and other sluggers also had the same problem in post season play.

A-Rod, any day.

If Boston hadn't made the playoffs, BoSox fans would be screaming for A-Rod. There were 22 teams that didn't make the playoffs. If they had the means and the opportunity, they'd sign A-Rod in a heartbeat. Get to the playoffs first. A-Rod will get you there.

As far as the World Series, it was mentioned earlier that a number of big stars had little success at the level. Williams is the most obvious. Boston fans are ready to jeer at A-Rod for not having a ring, but I've yet to hear any of them say, "We should've gotten rid of Ted Williams, he can't win a World Series."

Takes more than one man.

I'd take Lowell.....A-Rod's #'s are indisputable however, he does not fit into the "team" concept. It sounds cheesy but A-Rod's #'s have always been fantastic however his teams never win. His presence is a distraction and as good as he is & as good as his numbers are, I'd pass on him. Believe me I'm not saying Lowell is better, I'd just take Lowell for that reason.

Lowell had a good year, but he's a product of Fenway Park. He's a good hitter because of the green monster. Take a look at his stats before Boston. Also look on espn, his Fenway stats are way better than his stats at any other stadium.

Statistically, I would take A-Rod. Again, I base my decision on statistics, not his greedy, money hungry, effed up personality.

I would totally take Arod especially when you're saying that salary doesn't matter. I think the media, fans, teammates and Arod himself wouldn't put as much pressure on him.
