I hear Arod is requesting a provision where he has 4 personal cheerleaders who will room with him, built in to his new contract.

They'd be in the way. Imagine a player running to get to a foul ball and having to dodge his way through a bunch of cheerleaders. It's bad enough that some teams put their bullpens in foul territory.
Plus it would be dangerous because one of them could be hit with a foul ball, since they would probably be looking at the crowd (in other words, away from the field) when doing their cheers.

Some teams, like the Reds, HAVE cheerleaders. They come out between innings.
Cheerleaders have no bearing on TV ratings.
