The value of A-Rod in the market place is exactly equal to what someone is willing to pay him and I believe that amount will be somewhere around $300 million over ten years. He would not be a fit for every team because there are many that can't afford him. However, I can tell you that every team would love to have him and the monster numbers he puts up every year.

Even though I can't stand him, without A-Rod, Yankees do not make the playoffs. Pure and simple. A-rod does choke in the playoffs, but he was not the one who blew the playoffs. The whole lineup choked and got dominated by a hungrier and better team in the Indians. I wonder how the Yankees are going to replace his 156 RBI's and 54 HR's.
To answer your question: No, no player is worth 300 million. If you spend that much money on one player, it just takes away money for the other positions or holes you need to fill. One man does not win you championships! A TEAM wins you championships

Absolutely not.
He would make any team better until you factor in the money aspect.
First of all, why does he want a 8 or 10 year contract, to make sure that if he sucks later on, he will still be paid as a super star.
I would MUCH rather have 2 $15 mil players, or 3 $10 mil players instead of one $30 mil Arod.
Additionally, aren't you simply guaranteeing that, by signing Arod, that you won't win the world series?
If I was a GM, I would take the Kenny Williams route and simply not deal with a client of Scot Boras.

I look at it this way: as an Indians fan, my team overachieved and came within one win of reaching the World Series with a payroll below $50 mil - for the entire ballclub. So did the Rockies and the D-Backs. I maintain that if Sabathia or Carmona were able to eek out one victory between them, Boston would have not been in the World Series. My point is this - did they need the $300 mil man? Answer: obviously not. For certain teams, it would sink the entire franchise or create a huge imbalance. Cleveland would be one of the teams that could not survive and to be honest with you, I would prefer Arod not be on the Indians because they played as a team and for the team, it was not about me, me, me. CC Sabathia downplayed trying to get 20 wins saying all he wanted was to make the postseason, he could care less about pitching 20 wins. He was about team. He did not do well in the postseason but CC was all about team and Arod was all about the payday. Even if CC leaves Cleveland, he did not make some big announcement during the World Series...etc. He demonstrated class throughout. Cleveland can't afford Arod and personally I am glad because his selfishness would be a poison in their clubhouse.

He's my favorite player. I think he wants a good team. He waited for a good move from Yankees. Becuse of Joe Torre he left. I will blame the owner of the yankees for the bad contract to Torre.

Same as my opinion has always been! He's a jerk! Wouldn't want him on my team if he was the only player available and he was only asking a $1!

I hope he realizes that its not about the money to win a championship, but these guys never learn. Kobe is the same way.

He is extremely selfish. I think it would be great if no one offered him a contract
