My friend is throwing a halloween party and wanted to fill the bath with red food dye for a spooky effect but we're not sure if it will permanently stain it, what do you think?

It might stain it, and you might have to clean it rather thoroughly the next day (I would use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.)

To be safe, get a clear plastic bag, garbage type, and line the tub. Some tubs, like porcelan, will stain, it will fade away, but it will take time. So, it's your call. You may have a stain for awhile, but with use and cleaning, the stain from red food dye will eventually wear off.

That is allot of dye you would have to use depending on how much you fill the bath tub, I think after you drain it I would put some bleach in the tub with water to remove any stain left.

I think it depends on what material the tub is made of. Plastic types are more pourous than say the old fashioned type. Why not make a red, bloody looking punch instead, put it in a see through punch bowl, and put those gummy eyeballs, and gummy small body parts in it to float? That would be very spooky!

Depends on the bathtub, but usually it won't. I have a vinyl tub and I used hair dye last week and it didn't even stick to it. Some older homes have a fiberglass tub, and it may stain a porcelain tub as well.

If ita an enamel bath it wont harm it, but I'd be concerned about the mess, someone is bound to get it all around the house, the bath will be the least of your worries

Do a little test spot to see if you can get it off before you fill the whole tup with it. I would think that you would be able to get it clean with certain cleaners. ex: scrubbing bubbles, or bleach but you want to make sure.

It depends on what the bath is made of. But not knowing this, the answer is probably not.
