First, understand that to get higher returns you need to accept higher risks.
Second, you can learn a lot about option trading without a personal coach. You can start by going to
http://www.cboe.com/LearnCenter/default.aspx
and taking the online tutorials and online classes. They are free.
After that, I recommend you read one or two good books on options trading. Browse through books at a large library, a large book store, or at amazon.com to find one that you find easy to read. Two books I recommend you consider are "Options as a Strategic Investment" by Lawrence McMillon and "Options Volatility & Pricing" by Sheldon Natenberg.
Do not be afraid to ask questions. You can ask here, on a Yahoo message board such as
http://messages.yahoo.com/Business_%26_Finance/Investments/forumview?bn=4686677%23optionsquestionsansweredhere
or you can send a question to the Options Institute.

Trading options is like driving a car, if you don't know how, it can be very dangerous. But, just like driving a car, if you know how, can be quite fun and rewarding. There are a ton of places to get "free" education, but with those, the only feedback to whether you understand or not is to try it and find out. If you don't understand you will pay the market for your education.
I've been through Options University, Investools, and Better Trades, before finally coming across Spread Trade Systems. STS is by far and away the best in my opinion. They have a one time, lifetime tuition that allows you unlimited chats, unlimited times through the course, live over-the web and phone classes, so it's wherever you want. They don't nickel-and-dime you, and it's not a weekend seminar that you can't retain. They teach you how to do your own due diligence, and teach just about every strategy you will find. Also, a great community with other students to bounce ideas off of. They get my thumbs up...
Oh, yeah, I'm up 250% since March, so great returns are possible. If you decide to use them, please tell them Jake T. referred you.

Visit: http://www.investools.com Their on-line trading course tough me how to invest and trade options. Yesterday I made a 122% gain on a NOV 7 option on SNDK. You can't make that kind of return in a week owning stock or investing in mutual funds. Also, it's a two for one deal if you enroll in the course.

You need to learn to trade first - if you do not understand plain vanila trading you will certainly lose your shirt playing the options game.
