Well, I'm gonna reverse that question. How do I avoid dreams? I lose sleep at night if I eat before I go to bed. Because I dream vividly. Especially if I eat spicy food. or Pizza witth sausage, onions and peppers. And of course it doesn't help matters any if I have something on my mind, some anxiety or worry. I try to go to bed with very little in my stomach.Be advised that if you try this, you may not have dreams, you might have nightmares. I do.

According to doctors if you are not having dreams you are not sleeping good, if you always feel sleepy and tired then they maybe right. Go see a Doc. Now if you are talking about dreams of goals you want to meet in life think about your passion and life and what and where that passion can take you, but dream big, God can't be put in a box, so neither can your dreams. Go for the Super Bowl!!

Actually, nothing is proven regarding dreaming yet. There are many theories - the two basic theories are that in a physiological way the body needs to exercise the synapses (pathways between brain cells). When awake our body interprets these messages into thoughts, actions etc. Dreaming is replacing the use of these actions. Most of dreaming takes places in REM sleep but not all.
Psychologically speaking it is believed that dreaming deals with emotions and thoughts that we are dealing with in our current lives.

like.. sleeping at night... dreams?.. of goals? i dream to be a astronaut . if it's the former.. it begins in the hypothalamus taking stored information from the day to a few days and it's basically organizing the information to be stored in a proper place in your memory.. during this process thoughts that are special or bothering you can come into play.. this is where the instigator comes in.. the instigator is the reason the dream developed the way it did.. most of what you see however is conglomerated information that has been twisted to cover its true underlining meaning (latent content).. occurs in REM sleep stage..

1. By having goals and ambitions to achieve something in life
2. By going to sleep.
3. By thinking about the dream and interpreting it or asking someone else to tell you what it means.
I think that covers all I could "get" out of your question.
