as an Englishman and major business magnate in the USA I feel I must ask this.
i have recently read that 98% of Americans will soon be left homeless as their houses are being repossessed due to high mortgage rates. As the season of goodwill is near shall we give charity to these needy people?
I think we can make a difference!!!

You really are generous to a fault Sidney!

To get the fund started I'd be happy to donate the spare Euros I have left over from my last Business trip to Eastern Europe to source some cheap labour.

as an American and major business magnate in the UK I feel I must ask this.
I have recently read that 98% of UKs will soon be left without a Backbone as their government have been requiring all the commoners to remove them as a sign of unification for past and present actions throughout the World. As the season of goodwill is near I feel we should help them out by sending them rat backbones to compensate. They both share Facial and Hygienic similarities and should fit together nicely. should we give this charity to these needy people?
I think we can make a difference!!!
Oh wait....Rats nearly conqured the UK, oh well, back to the drawing board.........

No, only about 3% will lose their homes. These are the same people that did not really have the financial ability to buy the home in the first place. Some got in a big home with NO money down, NO interest for the first year, etc. All creative deals to sell homes to people that couldn't afford the payments. Look at it this way....they won't lose anything because they didn't put any money down and they lived in a home better than most Americans for a few years. I don't feel sorry for them at all.

ah sidders
as 98% will be homeless would i be right in presuming that you own 2% of the population and they will still live in your huts?
now the idea of shoe boxes for the colonials is very generous of you old chap, but a bit of a non starter, those wallas dont have any shoes to put in em do you see!
no what you need to do is mobilise these chaps, get 'em helping themselves for a change instead of being dependent on british charity to keep rescuing them
clever chap like you should be able to get 'em working chop down trees to make huts, use the cleared land to grow crops sort of thing, drag 'em kicking and screaming into the 20th century (could make a killing too, creaming off the top)
ah well, time for a small libation

You are very kind.

I believe that we are going to experience a severe recession/depression in the US, but the entire nation will not be homeless. Banks don't want to own a bunch of empty houses. They would rather have someone in them if there is the slightest chance they will make payments.

I think the extremely advanced American Social Welfare System should be able to cope.

And surely a house made of shoe boxes will quickly burn or flood or worse.

As one of the leaders in world economy, the Americans have followed their own god and made their own bed.
We might, be better advised to, keep the money we have stuffed in our mattresses and prepare for the knock on effect it will have on our own economy.
Charity begins at home.

Only the people who bit off more than they can chew are in trouble right now. Besides, we have Bill Gates to help out. All you guys can do is send Rupert Murdock -- and everybody already hates him.

Cute joke. It's a high number but don't you think 98% is a bit ridiculous?

Mr Bush might like that. He keeps stepping into the smelly stuff and as a result many suffer.
