I can suggest this , First thing to do is to make sure the counter tops are clear of all foodstuff , sugar marmalade any sweet food . All other foods to the fridge , and in tight lidded containers. Take away their favorite food snacks and it´s have the battle. Then place black pepper inside the microwave , they will soon leave as if there is an ants nest in your home the ants will then carry the black pepper into the egg-laying queens nest and she will move the ants out

And if the vinegar doesn't scare them away, I have a recipe for baits that you can keep in your microwave while you're not using it. In fact, you might want to make the baits anyway, to kill off the ants.

1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon Borax
3/4 cup water

Stir everything together until the sugar and borax dissolve. Then dip pieces of bread crust in it and place the baits where you see the ants. The ants will swarm all over the baits and carry pieces to their nest. And within 2 days, you should have few if any ants left.

Good luck!

Keep a cereal bowl of white vinegar in the microwave when not in use. Small pests detest the smell of vinegar, ants especially (since ants for the most part crave sweets.) You may have to keep the vinegar in your microwave for a week or two to fully rid them.

I use white vinegar to clean my microwave weekly. I just fill a cereal bowl with white vinegar and nuke for 5 minutes. The vapors fill the microwave and all spills and splatters are easily wiped.

Nuking doesn't work. I think the vinegar is the best remedy. IMO
