It's like a thick, cotton type material, my male (steralised) cat urinated on it, eewww!
What, if anything, can I use to get the smell and bacteria out? Thanks.

As TayLee noted, vinegar will neutralize cat urine smells, but even if a human can't detect it, a cat often will (and as you know, cats are territorial.)

I would advise you invest in an enzymatic cleaner which is sold in pet stores. There are different formulas for different surfaces and its a good idea to have that on hand for accidents.

And, if this happens again, take the cat to the vet. When cats don't use the box, its usually 1 of 2 things. Behavioral or medical. Your cat might have a bladder infection (which is very typical in neutered male cats.)

Good luck

Spray some straight white vinegar on the stain. Blot with a damp cloth. Repeat until the scent is gone. Vinegar neutralizes cat urine.:)

Most likely will have to toss out the couch since it will have permeated the stuffing that cant be removed or disinfected.

take the couch outside and leave it on the curb and it will go away.
