Haven't tried it, I am familiar with Pstd. It is supposedly working well with veterans but not sure you can trust the VA just on their word. I would need some references. I am a Vet but don't know of anyone at this time trying this type of treatment. Some of the results on paper sounds encouraging.

Statistically it has proven most effective in treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorders.

The general idea is that theoretically symptoms arise whenever events are processed inadequately. They were processed inadequately at the time the stressful event happened because there were so many emotions/symptoms that the body is unable to cope with them. Hence, it is "dysfunctionaly" stored in the memory. When people re-experience the event it tends to be very exaggerated and full of sensory flashbacks because the event was never processed correctly. There are 8 steps to a full treatment and it lasts about an hour. Generally, if it is one isolated incident that this is stemming from then it will take 1-3 treatments to see vast improvement.

My opinion is that anything that has the statistical data to back it up to possibly improve your life is worth an honest try.

EMDR -- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing -- is a psycho-therapeutic technique that is designed to be used in conjunction with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. There is some science to demonstrate that people are better able to access repressed emotions during CBT if their eyes focus on external stimuli, usually the repetitive back-and-forth movement of an object.

I went through a couple of sessions of it, but it seemed to have no effect...at least not that I or my therapist could tell.
