A lot of people find baseball boring to watch on TV. Also, the world series has been up against new episodes of top rated shows on other channels.

the ratings were low because everyone knew the rox, as exciting a run as they put together were no match for the far superior sox, and quite frankly, the sox have in the course of 2 years worn thin on people, it shows the immense unlikability of the team of the obnoxious tendencies of all those bostonians that so shortly removed from being the "darlings" of baseball in '04 people are already talking about the sox in the same way they do the yankees, noone cares about the sox anymore, generally speaking

Funny that Hank puts a political spin on it "Boston is the most liberal city". Liberal means open minded and open to change, that's somehow a bad thing for Hank.
I don't understand the college football allure, so I can't comment on that. However, from my perspective, even though TONS of people complain that there is no good programming on TV anymore, I know I was turning off the baseball game for an hour at a time for things like Boston Legal, Survivor, Smallville.
With the prolific analysis of highlights on various programs, you can miss the entire game and know that you could see all the relevant parts, many times in the following 2 hours.
It's the coles notes of sports.

It's because the Rockies and Boston (believe it or not) are small market teams and don't draw the audience........The Yankees are the big market draw in baseball and have always been..........It's the same thing with collectibles, small market teams and players don't do well in the value department........As far as attendance, baseball plays 162 games in a regular season and football is only a 16 game season with each team having a bye making the 17 game season..........I haven't seen a football game where there are empty seats but in baseball you can see loads of empty seats at any regular season game no matter who the teams are..............CAT

I still think there are some people who still have lingering problems with when baseball was brought to a halt with the strike that canceled the remainder of the season and the World Series for the first time in history.
In addition to that, I think it has to do with the fact that there are a lot of "fair weather" or "bandwagon" fans. In other words, people who will get behind their home team if it's in contention for a playoff spot - even moreso if their team gets to the World Series. But if their team isn't doing so great, then they take a "who cares" attitude.
By in large, in my humble opinion, baseball just doesn't have the die hard fans it used to who spend every waking hour checking out the penant races, etc. True, a lot of fans are soured by the out of control mega million dollar salaries that certain marquee players command these days. Even sadder still is that there are some owners who are more than willing to give money hand over fist like that.
Of course there are true blue fans like most Chicago Cubs fans. A lot of those people live, eat, sleep and breathe Cubs blue. They're the ones that pack Wrigley Field for every home game even when the team is languishing in last place. It's a sight to behold - a sold out crowd for a relatively meaningless game.

i have considered a gaggle of that too, and that i'm fairly disillusioned contained in the baseball followers of the international, because merely because YOUR crew did not make it would not make the international series any a lot less of a contest. that makes them a (as an party,) DODGERS fan, no longer a BASEBALL fan. that's a load of crap. i'm chuffed that 2 communities made it who are not hyped up or over publicized.

The WS ratings were low this yr? Are you serious? i can't belive that,,i thought with Boston in it, their ratings would have been through the roof! Maybe it was the time they were on? I don't know,Alot of people felt it started too late! And some said they lost track about the days they were playing! I would have never expected the ratings to be low with Boston in it!

You can thank the media for that. They try to brainwash everyone into thinking that unless it's the Yankees Red Sox Mets Cubs or the Braves that no one else matters b/c they are small market teams.

George55, you're either a disgruntled Yankee fan or just a dickwad...
I think it has to do with all the negative publicity between the strikes(more than any other pro sport) and the steroid abuse(also more than any other pro sport)

It's because no one wants to see the Red Sox. They are not the biggest draw. The are a collection of *******, idiots, misanthropes and retards. It all starts with their manager Terry Francona who is nothing but a puppet having his strings pulled by that insufferable jackwad Theo Epstein.
BTW Manny, the Predator called and he wants his dreadlocks back.
