They have to have some way to get over the grief, besides they do have other children. Pharmaceuticals and travel are expensive and they have a lot of shopping to do, they heard India has beautiful rugs. I can't wait for the book and impending movie deals.

They have never been interested in using the money to find madeleine. The money was first to pay their extended vacations in portugal where gerry was playing tennis and jogging instead of looking for his missing daughter, now, after 6 months without working, they need to pay bills, the mortgage, etc, so the fund is perfect for that. How on earth they are going to donate it to charities? They donate the toys because they don want them but, the money? that's the main reason when they started the media circus to hide their crime.

They need it to pay for Gerry's golf clubs. It is a very expensive hobby and he doesn't see why he should have to pay for it. He loves to jog or play golf while everyone else looks for Madeleine.
