For other reasons OTHER than being derogatory, insulting to others and racist/bigot comments

Without a doubt it is mean spirited, bored people who get a kick out of having people referring to them over and over.
In other words; they get a little evil grin on their faces when any of us talk about them.....as in " who could it be?" or
"why do they do it?" Or even questions like yours. They enjoy the attention even though they figure we don't know who they are. They love every minute of us talking about them. I have much more in my life to think about than these ignorant people. Onward and upward I say....!

You're right, if someone is abusing another, being vulgar, derogatory or racist, then they should be reported. People who are just looking for any little thing that MIGHT violate guidelines, are those with no real life. The feel so bad about themselves that they can't stand to think of others enjoying their lives, so they want to cause problems. The thing is, 'that' is all they have, where as we have lives, family, and friends, including each other.

Good question and many good responses. And from a couple of them I have read i think we can see who are the ones' who think THEY ARE THE ALMIGHTY . It amazes me at the ones who think it's their duty to decide BLACK IS BLACK AND GREEN IS WHAT THEY INTERPRET THE COLOR TO BE!!!!Only one person ever walked this earth that was perfect.( Athough a few responders think they can walk on water too. So what if a person accidentally posts a Q. on the wrong site, does some: GOD ALMIGHTY: think it's their duty to report it as a violation. This whole yahoo answers thing is about entertainment with some informative answers along with it. What I think we all should do is recommend to Yahoo Answers as a way to improve this site is to have anyone who doesn't understand this by looking for Q's or A's to report also be banished from the site for VIOLATION OF THE 1ST AMMENDMENT RIGHT OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE U.S. of A. I have seen a contact reported for asking if anyone would like a recipe for dessert, Now How Low CAN A PERSON GO? Well i guess a "Snake in the grass is as low as someone can go!!!!

If the question or answer is really in violation of the guidelines, like getting on here and trying to spread hatred in the LGBT category, or somebody in the people with disabilities seems to be obsessed with sounding of about "normal" people being mean to disabled people when they don't get that there is no such thing as "normal" and that is all they can ask about then since that clearly shows hatred and bigotry then that could be a reason for reporting them.

These people truly have to be bored and not have a life. I know people have been reported for having their question in the wrong category.I spend too much time on the computer now, let alone worrying about someone else. As long as it is not something vulgar or sexually inappropriate for children, pass the question by if you are offended. And, so what if it is in the wrong category. Everyone makes mistakes. Instead of reporting people for violations, why don't they try to come up with the best answer? Duh.

The type that when they were young liked to tattle on other kids!! Today, I don't know, you'd think we've grown up. I reported one person that called me a derogatory name and I think anybody else would do the same! I think if they took away the thumbs down it would help a lot! Funny how grown adults can't let go of things and move on!!

All, except one, answers above me are good.
I wish to go a bit deeper tho, as I have been suspended 5 times, 4 for only telling the truth, and stating facts.
The 'reporter type' generally has:1. Few friends ( people around them know what they are), 2. feeling's of insecurity, 3. low self esteem, 4. 'the hall monitor syndrome', 5. A DESIRE TO CONTROL, anyway possible, 6. A lack of knowledge of how to 'control', so use intimidation to 'gain' control, 7. lack the 'guts' to step forward and show themselves, for fear of being recognised for what they really are, 8. Generally these types are of lower intellect,9. have feelings of rejection due to personal, family, environmentall influences, 10. In the cases of the male gender, have the feeling of inadiquency in the male bodily appendages.

Well, from the response to this question I can certainly see why they got their question or answer reported. I agree that a lot of people "report" violations just to be mean or hateful, but I have seen too many questions that were not in the right category or not even a question therefore violated the guideline's. I think also that the guide lines are too broad. They should be more specific and should have one listed only for those that put their question in the wrong category. Lumping a category miss-use in with an obscene or distasteful post is not right. But the rules are there for everyone to read and adhere to. If you violate the rules you can expect to be reported. I have given a thumbs down for several that spew hate and obscenities in their answer. And I will continue until they straighten up or give up or get banned. We don't need those kind in this forum.
Don't lump everyone in the same frame. Some are trying to keep this ANSWERS clean and respectable.

Good answers already so I will add just a thought. You can see in the forum thousands of requests from our community to correct the wrongful violations. It seems to be a segment of irrational, inept individuals with sadistic personalities and it will take all of us to stop it by reporting abuse. Make sure it really is a violation or your future imput will not be taken seriously. Good luck.

Narrow minded butt heads will report for just about anything that doesn't fit their little tiny world. A year or so ago someone was asking questions and then referring them to porn sites. I reported it. I have reported men on here that seem to be stalking a person with vulgar comments. Not for a bad sentence or the lack of an absolute formum. Sicko's are around!!
