i found it on amazon for 100 buckis that a good deal

Yes it will work fine for that plus some lights or other small loads. If it works and runs good, $100 is a pretty good deal. They last for years and years. 1250 watts is 10 amps. A sump pump is around 3 amps. Basic electricity.

1250 watts is overkill for just a 1/2 hp sump but for $100 right the check. Don't let that deal pass you buy a brand new one will set you back about $800.

It should be power enough to start and run
a sump pump up thru 1/2 HP.
The generator set is not designed for constant
service. It might not last too long, but should get
you through a few short outages.

Best way to know is the AMPS produced by the Gen. and the AMPS drawn by the pump. Sounds like a decent deal; and might be in any case considering that it might help in other ways.

If it's working correctly you could almost power your whole house with a 1250 w unit.
