My roommate says, "Peh-Kahn" (from Texas) and I say, "Pee-Can" (from New England).

I know it doesn't matter, but I'm interested in seeing which one is the more prevalent pronounciation.

lol i love it great question...i say it all depends on your accent i say pee-can but i have heard it said the other way so like i said it all depends where your from and your accent

I lived in Texas for a year. tell the yokels you assert it suitable. a minimum of your from the "South". i'm from Michigan and that i could no longer say something suitable in thier eyes. flow lower back to NC. Screw those human beings. I pronounce it "nut".

Until last week I was in do doubt that there was only one way to pronounce pecan and that is pea-can...but then I met an American who said it was pronounced in different ways all over the US.
As far as I'm aware in the UK it is pea-can.
