it says that it may be dangerous to use a power adaptor that isnt supplied by boss, i already have a 9 volt (which is the one i need) from my old DigiTech effects pedal and it fits with the boss and iv already used it and it works fine. so are they only putting that there to make you spend money on their products, or is there a genuin reason?

Two reasons. One is to sell their own adaptor and the other is that if you use a different one and it damages the pedal Boss cannot be held responsible and your warranty will be invalid.

Only because they want your money there is no difference between the 9 volts on your Digitech supply or a Boss power supply. 9 volts is 9 volts regardless of the brand name.
