i have a really bad smell around my washing machine and dryer. Sometimes it smells and sometimes it doesnt. It has been happening for years. It even smelled sometimes when my washer was brand new. It also did it with my old washer. It is the worst it has been. I feel dizzy like it is making me sick. It is a terrible smell. We have pulled the washer out and cant see any mold or wet walls. We washed all the dirty clothes and that cant be it. It is smelling up my entire home. Thanks.

Have you checked the underlying floor? Not just floor underneath the washer. Could be something that once seeped down into the floor beneath your tile etc. Good Luck

If your machine is sitting near a furnace like mine was, you may be having the same problem i was. That is that in the summer water from the air conditioning would run under the furnace and mold. In the end i took everything off the floor and made a very strong mixture of bleach water and poured about 5 gallons of this stuff on the floor so that it would run everywhere. I have a floor drain , so after i let the bleach mixture set about 10 minutes and then dumped enough hot water on it to flush the bleach and the nasties away. Then I dried the floor and the problem went away. Bleach kills mold. If you have a smaller area try the bottled shower cleaners like tilex that have bleach in them and see if it helps.

Check the vent for your dryer, you may have a dead rodent in there. It could also be in your sub flooring. Start with the dryer vent, if that is the problem, when you get the thing out, safe guard the opening with steel wool or something to keep the buggers out. If it's the sub floor, get a reputable contractor to help you.

could be coming from the drain where your wash water goes. Pour some drain cleaner down and fill washer with hot water and turn it on to rinse out the pipes.

this could be sewer gas from the floor drain if you have one in a basement laundry room. Make sure that you pour water down the sewer regularly.
