because its against islam, they also block any dating and porn sites as far as i know. when i was there 7 years ago people used to get round it by using a foreign proxy not the emirates one but think they closed that loophole and stopped people using them.

Oh no wonder, Etisalat block everything here.
Torrent site, gay, porn, free download, crack, hack, file sharing, dating, match maker, voip, skype, blah blah blah...
We name it, they block it.
