I hurt my back on Sunday, and couldn't move, I was crying and rang in sick. Yesterday got strong painkillers and a 2 week sick note, from docs.
Now I feel so guilty about work, I feel depressed about not being in work, even though I know I couldn't do the job in this state.

Glad to see you can make it to the computer. You need to get yourself right for your two children, never mind work. Your shifts will be covered. It's only 23 hours, don't worry about it. You just rest that back, or you will make it worse and be off even longer. I am off to work now. You take care J. Speak to you later. Love Chris X.

I have the same problem. My back was broken a while ago and I have not been able to work for months now. I miss my job and feel really bad for not being there as I work with animals. My boss e.mails me and we still keep in touch and even go for coffee but we both know that I won't be able to return to work there again as my back isn't going to be strong enough to do my old job. Get well soon and don't feel too bad about not working, you need to get yourself fit for work or you could end up like me. I was always getting a bad back and didn't take the time off for it, if I had rested it when it first went, perhaps I would be at work now.

C'mon you should be resting not worrying about something you have no control over. The most that you could do, and your work may appreciate it coz it shows you care, is to give them a call most afternoons just to see how things are going and keep updated on any goings on. Don't worry about it, just chill out and make the most of it, there aren't many times people can say they're honestly off work ill. Hope you feel better soon!

So don't feel guilty then. You just answered yourself. You couldn't do your job in the state you are in, so you would be no good to yourself or your employers. If you feel better before the two weeks are up, ask your Doctor to sign you back fit and go back to work.

Yes...that's because you take your work with pride.
You'll be fine...it's when ya get back all the questions you will face that will really kill ya, since everyone is so used to see you at work no matter what.

I hope you feel better. Do lots of heat and don't set for long periods, that's the true killer. You will get stiffer than a board.
Best of luck !

My sympathies sweet. Work will miss you as you obviously are a conscientious person.
Take the time to rest and do as the Dr says and I hope you feel some relief soon. Try not to worry about work; everyone has to take time off sick occasionally. Worry will make you tense and your back muscles need to relax.
Hope you are back to your old self soon.

Yes, I too have felt this but try not feeling guilty and focus only on getting better. Your job will be there when your well enough to go back to work, take it easy and get some rest. Hope you feel better soon.

I know how you feel - I was once off work for 6 weeks due to a car accident and I felt soooo guilty for not being at work - despite not being able to walk... lol Get well soon

I know what you mean and it means you are a decent person who cares about the job you do.

I used to ahve no qualms about phoning in sick when I was in meaningless boring jobs in the past but now I'm in a job I love and I'm sitting here chocked with the cold, aching and wanting to go to bed but I will get ready and go to work at 2 just as planned. I feel to bad to phone in sick!

Surely its better to take a break and rest your back, rather than go back to work cos you feel guilty and do even more damage.

Do yourself a favour and take a good rest, back pain is a nasty thing to have
