He is 6 months old now and I have applied for Passport. Once he gets his passport I should be applying for his US visa. I read somewhere that interview for children below 14 is not required. Does this mean i can send the application by mail or is it expected that one of the parents need to show up for the interview? Should I take the appointment? If yes in whose name should it be? And what are the other process/information i should be ready with?

if the kid doesn't have visa go to the nearest American embassy and apply. They will interview you and ask you questions like why don't you leave him in India, How will you be able to take care of him while your at work etc... so be ready for that.

Apply for a visa of your son and you must present practically all the documents you used for applying for your visa. You will appear at the embassy in his behalf.
