What is an alternative?

It depends on your personal taste. I dont like tiaras, personally. Thats because my style is more elegant bride, than princess bride.
There are a lot of alternatives. There are so many hair clips and bands, and hairstyles. Even if you dont wear a veil (I didnt), there are so many ways to make your look special and unique.
Dont forget that you will have jewelry to incorporate into your look, too. So you dont want to overdo it.

No they are not. That is just like asking if a white wedding gown is overused for a wedding. Some women like tiaras and others prefer a wreath.

The bride is the star of her own wedding! A tiara will be that perfect finishing touch or statement maker

I do not think they are over used. It's the brides day and if she likes it and makes her feel special I'm all for it. I'm getting married 8-8-08 and I have a small tiara.

Totally. For my wedding (2 weeks to go!) I am going to have my hair done in an elaborate updo and have crystal hairclips in it. This is way better than a tiara.

Yes! My 35 year old sister-in-law wore one and looked ridiculous. I think it's things like tiaras that inspire bridezillas. They honestly believe they are a princess.

In wedding magazines and websites yes. In real life I've never seen one on a bride. Wear whatever you want. Personally I'd much rather wear flowers.

Just a veil, flowers or nothing...I loved my tiara and once in a while... i walk around the house with it on.

If she wants to be a princess, let her, it is her day. I personally would not wear one. A nice veil is a great alternative, possibly flowers instead.

No, where I'm from they're really not seen a lot.
Actually, I hadn't intended to, or particularly wanted to, have one myself - but it was suggested I try one on because it matched the gown I chose, and the suggestion was right! It wasn't ostentatious, just pretty.
