I have a friend who's eye was disfigured after strabismus surgery. He want a new eye but not a glass one. Medically only the cornia can be transplanted but why can't the whole eye?

Something about that pesky optic nerve being attached to the brain! Hard to clip it and reattachit and still expect it to work.

Optic nerve and retina are part of central nervous system If they are cut the damage is permanent. So whole eye can not be transplanted.
