My dad's mother's side hates me and my mother. They are quasi-wealthy people. They're nuts basically insane from money. Now My grandmother spent my dad's inheritance money and will not pay it back. So that left my mom dad sister and me without a lot of money when I was growing up. My mom cleaned apartments for a while, my dad re enlisted in the army and raised us to be good honest people the opposite of his family. My dad's dad died in Vietnam and his mother became a real drinker. I hate my stepgrandfather. Ok another thing is my grand father and his brother married into the same family my great uncle divorced my great aunt because she's EVIL. \
I want nothing to do with my father's mother's side at all. They are very cruel people. They didn't care when my grandfather died and my cousins are really into drugs & alcohol. My sister & I are not. How do I do it?

I have a similar situation and i distanced myself from my moms whole side of the family by cutting contact with them and people that know me and them . When you do this it basically tells them right away you don't have time to deal with bitter, evil , vindictive people who are supposed to be your family. In my opinion if they treat you or your mom and sister badly who needs um.

Okay, unless your father was a minor when he inherited the money then I am pretty sure your grandmother legally shouldn't have been able to access it without his consent. If she did so, he could probably sue her for it, which would force her to pay it back - sounds brutal, but may be the only way to get it. If he was a minor, it is still worth checking with a solicitor if there is any way of reclaiming his money.
As for you, you should write each person in your maternal grandmother's life a letter saying telling the truth. Don't be too overemotional or exaggerate, just tell them that given the nature of your relationships with each of them you think it would be better for all concerned if there was no further contact between you and them and ask them to please not write to you or call or visit from now on. Then try to forget about them and move on with your own life.

You simply "Do It"! Do you have caller ID when they call don't answer! If they come to your house, don't open the door. Never visit them or write,e-mail,or have any kind of communication with them. This is a great plan and it works, because I did it, and they finally got the message and have left me alone!

I'm not sure how to go about physically distancing, but changing your last name legally in court gives a sense of internal peace and closure. (I did it)

Please know that you aren't alone when it comes to suffering from evil family members.

Just stay away from them. You do not have to let people treat you like crap just because you are related to them. Stand up for yourself if you do see them.

Very simple. Mind your own life and do not bother to listen or attend to them.
