Yeah I'd have to say air conditioning ( where I live in the Summer it is horridly hot!)

The wheel... Because without the wheel the thousands of inventions that have the wheel as a component wouldn't have followed.. Inventions including generators for electricity, the printing press, cars, pulleys, etc. The wheel is a major or minor component in nearly every other invention to come after it..

The printing press! The whole history of the world has been changed by the possibility of the dissemination of information. It brought about the Protestant Reformation, the Enlightenment, etc. The American Revolution, democracy, etc., would have been impossible without ideas and news and information being able to be gotten around quickly and cheaply.
In another 100 or 200 years, we might look back on the personal computer and the Internet in the same light. Too early to tell.

electricity..imagine life without...man that would suck.
oh and running water...imagine having to bathe in a river. yuck.
